Increased road noise and cost. The jump from 255 to 275 gave quite a jump in road noise for me.

The extra grip does outweigh the downsides in my opinion.

At the moment I have 225 all round. I think the max my rims would permit would be 245. Does the wider width also give more protection to the rims?

I wouldn't oversize the tyres on the wheel. I only use 275 width because I have 10j width wheels.
 
This may have been covered before but what do you guys with non run flats do about punctures?

Definitely thinking of changing eventually but at the moment all four tyres are about 15K miles from needing changing.
 
Well mine isn't an E89, but in anticipation of switching to non-RFTs I bought 2 cans of Holts Tyreweld and a 12 volt compressor.

As I have an E86 I also bought a 17" spacesaver, jack and wheel-brace from a forum member as Plan B.

RAC membership as Plan C. :lol:
 
My car had 17 all round and changed to 18. Running Goodyears. Can't rotate the wheels now, front and rear different sizes. And have a space saver in the boot as my cars a commuter. Still managed to get two soft bags in there for holiday, obviously no roof down.
Most punctures, like the one i have now are slow to release air and have known about it for a month or so now. Just keep topping up as i am about to fit two new rears before mot, just trying to get the most out of them. The tyre fitter i go to suggested not to use the goo in the can, as it makes a right mess for them to clean up.
 
I'm looking to replace my nightmare runflats with PilotSport 4s. Can get a set fitted for 466 quid with BlackCircles, 40 pounds off if you buy 4. Do I run them at a different pressure to that recommended for the runflats?
 
Oh no, here we go again, general opinion is about 3 or 4lbs less than runflats pressures, but don't ask Busterboo or you'll get a totally different answer. :evil:
