Hi guys, brand new to this forum so thought I'd introduce myself and say hi, my name is Ian and I live in Durham, i recently bought a z4 2012 2.0ltr m sport. Had it for 8 weeks, it's been with BMW for 6 of those, lots of issues with it, mainly resulting in BMW putting in a brand new engine and turbo, got it back now though, hopefully no more issues. Sure I will need lots of advice from the members here in the future :)

Welcome to the mad-house!

It doesn't sound you have had the best start to your ownership experience, but I hope once it is sorted you get enough enjoyment to make up for it! :driving:

Oops, nearly forgot - welcome to another Ian (even if mine is spelt Iain - my dad was Scottish)!

Holy heck - hope you didn't have to pay for said engine and turbo :o , otherwise it would a pretty sour introduction to Z4 life...
Welcome anyway. Look forward to some pics when you get a chance.

Hi and welcome

Sorry to hear of your woes.it would be good if you could share what the issue was, the helpfulness/not of the dealer etc etc.

Also, even though we prefer pics of well-behaved cars, a couple of yours would be good.

Hope that all this will be quickly behind you. :driving:

Welcome aboard! What the hell happened that it needed a new engine?

Welcome to the forum, hope you get your car sorted, pity you missed the best of the weather and photos are a must

Welcome to the board. Time to get some miles on that new engine and a big :D on your face :driving: .

Oh and some photos up on the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I will get some pictures up over the weekend, I bought my car from a Renault dealer believe it or not but it was the only car for sale relatively close to me which I liked, looked good and I thought why not, had a couple of things that the dealer needed to look at one of which I thought was a rattily heat shield. To cut a long story short the turbo was rattling and not the heat shield, they sent it to bmw who put a new turbo on and the rattle was still there, re diagnosing and they said it was the crankshaft which had splintered and had knackered the turbo, rather than replace the crankshaft and hope nothing else had been broken they said they would put a brand new engine and turbo in instead, no explanation as to why this may have happened at all. Luckily for me I had only had the car less than 2 weeks before the problem was diagnosed so I never had to pay anything which was lucky as the final bill from bmw was 13.5k. they couldn't move the clock for obvious reason so they gave me the invoices which state when engine was replaced and at what millage for when I move it on. All in all not a good start with a z4 but I'm hoping I have used up all my bad luck with it already :)
