Z4 Noise Issues

Hey guys and girls, I have owned my Z for nearly 2 months now and love it to pieces but I feel there is something slightly missing. I have a 2.2 SE Roadster and when I have the roof down I love the sound of my exhaust its nice. But I feel like it could be a little bit louder. The car is completely standard, any suggestions as to what the best mod would be to make it that little bit louder so I can annoy my neighbours ;) .

Good question Ricey. I have an 07 3.0 coupe and find it too quiet. I'd like a quick, easy and cheap way to make it sound more interesting. I'll be watching your thread for any good tips.
 
sound generator. gruppe M for sound on throttle.

headers for performance and a lil more noise in the cabin
exhaust for more noise.

your oging to have to look around for the sound u want as each exhaust brand is different. i havent changed my exhaust so i cant help u in that department
 
Have a look at the sound generator as mentioned by Sephanite. It's standard on the 3.0 litre and I know can be retrofitted to the 2.5, but not sure if the 2.2 is the same.

Basically it's a pipe that ducts engine noise into the cabin and is damped by foam inserts that can be reduced in number and size to increase noise

I fitted one to my 2.2 a couple of years ago with no problems.

I think it cost about £100 for all the bits.

Thanks for confirming. I'd hate to say it would fit just to later find the intake system is different on the 2.2 to the 2.5/3.0 :)

Now when it comes to engines etc... I am pretty stupid and don't know alot so what do I need/ where do I get it from and how do I fit it?

I don't ask for much do I? ;)
 
Call BMW for prices. Part numbers here:

Sound generator

I thought here were some 'How to do it' instructions somewhere, but maybe that was on the old Z4um. The only difficult bit I remember was in tightening screw 4 which requires a special tool which I ended buying from RS components.
