Z4 no more

Staying with a mate in Gloucester for the weekend to do a few car shows and we popped into the new BMW site near Cheltenham. Massive place housed in futuristic looking building over a number of floors. Went in search of a Z4 new or secondhand and about an hour later gave up and went to reception. I was told they no longer had any as Z4 was withdrawn and they werent even interested in secondhand ones. A bit depressing but a search on the internet reveals the reason why.
THe first I had heard about it but I quess everyone else probably knows.

Don’t speak in riddles Mike, what did you hear then matey? :?

Sorry didnt mean to speak in riddles. The Z4 has been withdrawn and BMW will be collaborating with Toyota on a Z5, at least thats what the press say.
What got me was the casual way they said they didnt have any Z4s either new or secondhand as they had been dropped.

what a load of bollocks  how can a main bm dealer not even know the new z4 is still a z4 and since when have dealers not stocked used cars.. ffs :headbang:

That’s news to me, are you sure they weren’t referring to the discontinuation of the e89 a couple of years ago?
They sound confused

Sounds like they are talking a load of crap, there are two Z4`s for sale at my local BMW dealer

 Typical main dealer can't be asked attitude. They probably thought you were a penny less chimp just browsing and wasting their time. They are true idiot take people at face value, we are better than you salesman!!! And that's from a used carsalesman!!
Makes me mad .

That must be a very old press release you found. I believe they are still working with Toyota, but I also understand it will still be a Z4.

BMW are close to releasing the 2019 Z4. It is codenamed G29 (see this forum for the anticipated car). BMW have been working with Toyota for a couple of years now and the cars will share similarities. One of the main differences is that the Toyota will bring back the name SUPRA for theirs and it will be a tin top. BMW will stick with the convertible.

Very weird thread. A basic 'new z4' on google would have answered all your questions. I suspect it was you who was mistaken and misunderstood what they were telling you....not the dealer.

Odd thread indeed. Well there's a new Zed coming out any how's I suspect it will be called Z4 as the press seldome get it completely wrong. Though there was talk a little while back of it being called Z5. But what ever it is pretty close to production :)

I certainly didnt get it wrong. This is a massive dealership with hundreds of cars but not a Z4 in sight and they definetly said they didnt have any as car was withdrawn. Be interesting to see what happens over the coming months.l

No confusion, they simply mean you can't order a new Z4 at the moment as the e89 is out of production and the replacement is yet to be released.

Not much of a fanfare was made when the e89 stopped as nobody gave a hoot...

The market for the e89 is quite small as there aren't loads around, hence why they have none in stock. The e85/e86 is too old to make it into main dealer stock apart from the odd Z4M.

New Z4 patents released see Autocar looks close to the concept. Interesting hence no "old" e89s looks like a reality very soon.
