Good afternoon one and all

My name is Cat, and I have been reading lots of post over the last week or two. I actually bought a z4 2.5 SE, 2004 plate with 56k on the clock, a few days ago... however during the 2 days I had it, the coolant drained out twice!! Even after bleeding the expansion tank etc. We managed to get the fans to blow hot in the cabin, but it happened again. We had changed the cap as well, and also the sensor. Checked all hoses, and also the car was running so hot.

So after 2 days, and a bit of TLC the previous owner has taken it back to delve further and gave me my money back. It was a mint car with fsh, and was in very good order, so I now have money to burn, but probably will want a 3.0 l roadster now, so have been checking out the for sales pages!

I have asked him to come back to me should the problem be solved, and I might buy it again, but feel the 3.0l or 3.0si sport is a better spec and fit for me... what's people got coming up!!! Might even stretch to z4m!!! But big difference between 4k to 16k plus, this will be a second car to run around whilst the sun is out!

Welcome aboard.
Sounds most likely to have been a hairline crack in the expansion tank. They only open when really hot and the water comes out mostly as steam so doesn’t leave much evidence.
 
It was a new tank, so the owner replaced it. Hopefully he will report back as to the problem, surely it won't keep happening on new tanks he puts in, within such a short time

He is going to give me the option I think. Trouble is, 3.0si with good spec, is looking appealing, if I can find one.. or might stretch to z4m!
 
I guess once you have tested a car and now know you like it, going to the next level up is always going to be appealing, Z4M is a totally different ball game though.

Yes was looking at the blue one listed on here, and the videos sounds awesome! Mind you nearly 700 quid tax, will stick to 3.0 si only 395!
