Z4 Newbie- run flats

Hi all, ive been reading posts on here about Z4's for a month or so now and have got some great advice and decided to go with my heart and buy a 2006 Z4 2.5 se which I pick up on Saturday. Looking forward to the 2 hour drive home! Just one question for now, how do I know if the tyres are run flats or are they all run flats on this type of Z4?

I think the 2006 will come with run flats as standard but they will have certainly been changed by now, best way to tell is to look on the side of the tyre and it will say something like “run flat” or “RFT”, you may have to check the tyre make and google it.
Make sure you put some photos on when you get it
 
cheers chippie, I tried to look at tyres on autotrader but cannot make them out but will put pic up once its nice and shiney
 
Do you know what brand the tyres are Dan?

As an example my rears are Michelin PS3s so I got excited and thought I had good tyres. Then I discovered "ZP" on the side wall... Which for Michelin means zero pressure.

I'm losing the runflats on Friday!
 
Yes, I think some brands have "RSC" markings on their run-flats - maybe it depends where the tyres are made?

so are you not keen on ran flats? I did read that normal tyres have better handling on a z4
 
Well I'd be surprised if they are run-flats - but looking at the reviews on here (http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Autogrip/P308.htm) you might want to change them anyway!

Not even a bit. I've had my Zed for the last month and it's only tried to put me in a wall or ditch 7-10 times... They are just so so stiff so any little wobble in the road they follow it.

Yes I was thinking that too they are kind of budget tyres....cant believe someone put them on there in the first place!!

do you mean that the michelin zp is not right for the z4

He means it’s another runflat (as pointed out a couple of posts above) and you can improve the car by chucking those bakalite tyres into a bin :thumbsup:
Use the search function on the forum and type in “runflat tyres” and read up on them for a few hours :thumbsup:
