48 months PCP.
368.92
Dealer Depo Contribution 8409.33
Final payment 12,933.00
Miles 8000
APR 4.9

That is about the best deal I've seen so far. I'm still learning how this all works.

The best I had seen has the dealer kicking in about £7,800. I think £7800 on a base cars leaves them with 2% profit or less. I'm guessing your dealer is taking some of the profit on options, gap insurance and service and applying it to the deposit contribution.

BMW Finance often gives the dealer cash for selling a loan with a marked up interest rate. On our current car we negotiated down the APR. I'm not sure if there is a markup on the 4.9%.

In the US, BMW sales advisors get 20-30% of the profit and no base salary. -- On a deal like yours that would be a few hundred pounds. I don't think commissions work the same way here though.

Doubt you can do much better.

Andrew

Did you get supaguard included?

who did you deal with @ Eastern

i dealt with Chris Bunch. made me and my girfriend feel easy with regards to purchase. no pushiness etc very open about everything. Whereas at Vardys it was basically here is the price take it or leave it. Vardys even had cheek to call me last week and ask if i was interested. when i said i was going to easterns told me he would do it cheaper :headbang: a-hole

Andrew

mine is pretty similar, obviously i never had any extras but im

48 month pcp £326.99
£500 deposit
serving / gap / supaguard included via dealer discounts
8000 miles

when i spec up a 1 series coupe i was up @ £340+

its the dealer contribution which makes the car affordable for myself.

I dont believe in Supaguard if I am honest. I believe a good wax would do exactly the same job.

I dealt with Susan and Chris when I was there. She did try and sell me the Supaguard however I refused flatly and she accepted that. She only managed to sell me the wind deflector! The rest of the options I wanted.

Items like supagard and wheel insurance are high profit items for a dealer.

They don't add anything to the residual value of the car, so you are paying for the entire thing.

But if they are giving you most of it back in Deposit Contribution . . . why not.

BMW dealer I'm working with are offering us more for our trade than anyone else we've talked to. We aren't going to take any dealer added items like gap insurance or paint protection. If you add that in, I'm within £200 of KeithJ's deal. He won't budge on price.

We live in North Wales. Not sure if it is worth going far out of area (Scotland??) for a few hundred. That mostly evaporates if you add in the travel costs.
decisions decisions....

This board has been a big help to us. I'm still learning. We are Americans here on Work Permit visas. I'm an expert at buying a BMW in the US, but the UK market is different and there is a lot less transparency. In the US, we know what the dealers pay for the cars, how much they make on finance mark up . . . Makes negotiating a lot easier.

bit late to this thread and skimmed through so forgive me if this is redundant;
essentials IMHO

adaptive suspension, makes the car a better drive all round
heated seats,
auto dimming mirrors, the cars low and you do get dazzled by 4x4s at night
speaker upgrade
if the usb port is still an optional extra don't make my mistake and not have it. £75 to add £600 + to retro fit

good luck and enjoy

I have extended lighting, loudspeaker system - BMW business,

How do you like the business audio? We've only heard the base system and Professional. We didn't hear the professional when the car was moving.

Business System has 11 speakers, and the sound quality is very good even when the roof is down.

Could do a double deal at Eastern if you fancy Andrew? I wonder if a dealer would really go for it and improve their offers.

As regards to my deal status, I am stuck at insurance. Admiral quoted me £498 to add a Z4 for my four remaining months. Told them it was a no go. Looking at a refund on my insurance and just pay for another year.

I wanna tie up the deal however its the fact I have not test drive the 2.0 engine and heard the noise! :(

im okay with insurance. Been on family business policy since i started driving. Excess increased £200 but worth it.

not the best but found this on youpube

Scotland is probably too far away. If it was August, we could combine with our planned trip to the Fringe.

I am stuck at insurance.

Best quote we have is from BMW. We are in an odd situation. 8 years no-claims and 3 years on a full UK license. Most insurers look at our 3 years UK and won't cover a Z4. It was easier to get insurance with our American driving licences.

£500/year. LL post code. Full coverage. 8,000 miles SDP and commuting. £250 voluntary. For comparison our 2008 MINI Cooper is £400/year and our Combo van  is £250. I have an LV commercial policy on the van but they won't quote us on a Z4.

BMW uses Allianz. We use them for our MINI. (BMW Insurance and MINI Cover are the same but with different names) We also had Allianz european delivery insurance on our X3. Too bad BMW UK don't do Munich delivery.

Best to drive it. Engine is ok if a bit lazy in low revs. I started the car on my test drive to a lovely sound and thought perhaps people were wrong when they said the 4 pots were too quiet. However, driving around, there's little sound at all other than the turbo whine. Even on the motorway, while it didn't sound thrashed, flooring it sounds more like a hatchback than a sportscar. So, again, drive it to decide. Its certainly a leap away from my 35i in sound, but then also in terms of fuel economy!
