Z4 Navigation queries

Hi all,

Just a quick post that i hope doesn't cause any problems - but on my z4mc, i have sat nav and the latest firmware version, the navigation works fine :) But the screen seems to lack any body of colour and on the map the roads i'm following are white on an already pale background :s It seems as if the colour scheme is all over the place. I can get a pic if needs be, but i find it really odd. I've read on this version of the firmware there are issues with it speaking french to you if you turn off the speed cameras. Is this something that would be cured with another version of the firmware? A case of waiting for an official release? Or downgrading to previous version?

Any help would be great

The programmed route shows as white, so that's normal. The colours aren't brilliant, I'd describe them as "pastel" (ooh, get him - ed) but it might be worth a pic to see if yours look the same as the rest of ours. The latest firmware version will show as 4-1/00. Some after-market firmware adds a night mode colour scheme but personally I don't want to risk bricking my nav computer. There's enough discussion on here about French speaking Nav to give a clue that all is not well with hacked versions.
 
The navs in both my Z4's have had two colour schemes to choose from I used the blue one in my old car as I thought the other one was totally wrong.

However the other colour scheme makes sense in an ///M with the while dials.

my firmware version says its 4-1/02.

Does anyone know if BMW have an official firmware update that i can purchase?
 
I was sending out the latest firmware updates for the mkIV Nav to people who made a donation to MacMillan Cancer Support via a JustGiving page but the mods have pulled the thread while they 'think about it'

They pulled it last Friday and I haven't had any further info from them so I don't know if they're going to reinstate it or not - keep your eyes open in case they do

Strange, the f/w is publicly available and is not pirate software. Maps are a whole different issue. Asking for a donation to burn them a CD, or even just emailing it and saving them the embuggerance of simply downloading it seems reasonable. Ho hum
 
I'd be after v32 again to put it back to 4-1/00 if possible, just want it to work properly and the colours be right rather than have gimmicks on it.

Yes, that's my understanding of the situation as well, I've been doing the same thing on another forum and the mods there have been quite happy with it.

I received a reply from the mods here last night effectively saying that they're not 100% certain that it's OK and don't want to take any chances.

I've replied saying that even though my understanding of the situation regarding the distribution of firmware updates is different, I appreciate their concerns and will abide by their decision.
