Z4 meets kerb and hedgerow

Unless I'm missing something, if all the external damage is the offside front corner why are they doing a full respray when it only the wing and bumper. I know they need to blow it in, and why four wheels and not just the one?

I can see why approval make take some time.

I've no idea which front end i'll get. I didn't want to push my luck by asking but i've still got my fingers crossed for the facelift though.

It won't be unless you ask...they will order parts based on the VIN ,and the VIN will relate to old shape bits...

Both front wheels were pretty badly damaged when i hit the kerb head on (one hell of bang!) and the rear offside got some slight damage too. The only wheel to escape any damage was the rear nearside but BMW seem to think it best to give me a new full set so i won't complain. There are a lot of scratches down one side from where the car was rather brutally dragged through a hedge by the recovery truck and BMW want to respray the whole car, again, i won't complain about that. If I was paying for the repair from my own pocket I'd have plenty to say but as it's the insurance company paying i'm happy to get my car back in better condition that when i bought it last October.

Hmmmm, clear light clusters.... got me thinking now. Anyone reckon the BMW body shop would be up for that? Or would that incur extra costs? The insurance company are already most displeased at paying BMW's labour costs as it is. Any increase in the price quoted would result in a fair bit of trouble i'm sure.

The car is being worked on right now thankfully. I should have it back at the end of next week :thumbsup:
 
Right, this is getting ridiculous now. Considering all i have done is put the car into a hedge and hit a kerb on the way and there is minimal body damage i've just been told by BMW that the car will now not be available to me until "mid may-ish" as they are only doing 4 hours a day on the car! WTF!? :x After visiting the bodyshop last week and seeing the incredible set-up and amount of staff they have there i'd have thought the car would have a couple of guys on it all day (as I was told "it's 70 man hours of work that mate, it'll be a couple of weeks yet"). I don't know if any of this is of any interest to you guys...but WTF, this is just winding me up now, i'm seriously unhappy with this latest news. I crashed on the 14th, had to wait til the 25th for BMW and my insurers to stop acting like kids and arguing over a £1 an hour reduction in labour costs, then being told work had begun on that day, only to now be told it's actually today the work has been started and i have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks for the sodding car!!! ARRGGH!
All i can say is i'm glad i didn't have a proper full-on crash and do any actual, real damage :thumbsdown: I might then have got the car back next bloody year! This is getting farcical. :x :x

sorry, just need to vent my anger into the keyboard :(

Update 8th May:
After having phoned the BMW body shop who allegedly "keep all customers fully informed of progress and work carried out" i have now been told that it "could be" after the 23rd May. So thats at least 5 weeks off the road for what was a pretty damn minimal crash. I am so pi**ed off right now i can barely put it into words. The sun is out, i see convertibles everywhere, i'm in a damn mitsubishi colt 1.1. Not good! :x
