Hello everbody new to this site and also a new owner of a m roadster, the problem is the brakes when i purchased it from the bmw dealer, the steering wheel vibrated everytime i applyed the brakes, i took it back and was told cause the car had'nt been used for a while they had corrosion.So new discs were fitted as per warranty, ( its a 08 plate with then 4000 miles on the clock) now 2000 miles later i have the same problem again! Quoting from the bmw m roadster guide book it says 'To maintain the brake system in optimum condition,you are recommended to apply loads that suitably reflect the character of this car at regilar intervals.If the car is used only for short distances,is not used for lengthy periods or is subjected to only minor loads,the brakes discs will be particularly susceptible to CORROSION and the brake pads will collect dirt; this may then result in permanently impaired braking comfort.This reduced braking comfort may also be caused lengthy brake applications with a low rate of deceleration or low pedal pressure from high speeds. Niether the performance of the brakes nor the operation safety of the vehicle are AFFECTED! So the point is has anybody else been affected by the same problem???? How many miles are you doing a week? Are you leaving the car to stand for days at a time without using the brakes properly? Are you using the brakes with a good amount of force?
I get surface corrosion on all 4 of my discs if I leave it for a week in the summer (due to overnight condensation on the exposed disc), or if I leave it overnight in the winter (due to rain/puddles).
The surface corrosion disappears in about 10 minutes of use - assuming you are applying the brakes sufficiently in that time. Go out for an hour's spirited drive and you'll find they'll be fine.

Hello again, eventually have took my m roadster in for a inspection at a local bmw dealer, where they found that one of the brake discs that were previously fitted under warranty, due to the old brake discs being corroded, is a deflect and has warped! So going in this thursday for a another set of discs, all under warranty again! which at £500+ a time is just as well! So thats 3 sets of discs in only 6700 miles, third time lucky i hope!!!!!!! Anyway enough moaning i love this car and WHAT A ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear the dealer is replacing w/o issue. I've only had my Z for about 3 weeks, but so far my experience w/my dealer has been fabulous. I have 1.5 yrs on original warranty, then another 3 on CPO. Have a new seat cover on order now, under warranty. Hope anything that needs replacing happens in next year!
Yup i had a problem with vibration from the discs and it was found that one was warped. Eventually they replaced the front pair under warranty and there's been no issues since. I think i confounded the issue by washing it then not drying the brakes well enough before garaging it for 3 months over the winter. I suspect they washed your car at the dealer, maybe several times and of course it then sits there corroding nicely. I won't make the mistake of not drying them properly before a lay up again.
