Z4 M Pistonheads Price Index - Week 10 - Updated

Mileage tends to be an adder or subtractor when deviating from average. Most dealers and lease companies have a mileage rate they apply over or under average. If you took the age of the car and added or removed money based on deviation from average mileage you'd have a fair stab at true values and the true difference between MR and MC base prices.

Most of our cars will have a slightly inflated value due to low mileage compared to the nominal 12k per annum.

Updated for Week 19 - Coupe Tax has taken a bashing the Roadster is on the Move ......

Week 8 12 19
Z4MR Avge 13995 14328 15775
Z4MR Med 13495 13000 15000
Z4MC Avge 18231 18379.56 17949
Z4MC Med 18495 18497.5 16842.5

Average and Mean Mileage was within 4000 miles - with the roadsters on the slightly lower average of 44k compared to 48k for the Coupe.

Coupe factor down to 1.13- it was at over 1.3 in week 8

To be honest Roadster prices are all over the place at the moment but they are making up some ground on the coupe which seems to be slightly softening based on this week - couple of reasons there are a good deal more Coupes on Pistonheads than roadsters this week 11 Roadsters vs 18 coupes . Also sub 30k Roadsters are beginning to see Coupe like prices with some of the performance indys following Sytners lead.

So This weeks Mean Pistonheads roadster

Beginning to think I got into my car at just the right time 8)

There is no bad time to buy an MR ... Bing , but you might be right the roadster is strengthening but there is a massive discrepancy in pricing at the moment.

Still 2k more ... Couple more weeks date to see if this is just a blip

I was a bit surprised - I'd scanned pistonheads last week and thought the premium was still as high and so was surprised when I sat down and did the Maths this afternoon.

Just the impending summer fluctuation I'd have thought? Coupe prices fairly static, but Roadsters more seasonal (up in spring, down in autumn).

Coupe average mileage had bumped by 10k. Has this been skewed by outliers? You should discount cars that are over 2 standard deviations from mean given the small sample size.

Interesting results though, hope this thread continues!

+1 Very true.

Any one looking at Z3M Coupes. Now selling for more than Z4 and rising. A mate of mine drove from Cornwall to Munich Legends, with the intention to purchase one, a week back. He was surprised by how poor condition it was in and drove back, empty handed. Said rusty Coupe sold, as seen, for £16500, the next day, I'm told

There was one advertised for £12,995 and one for £15,995 to which both arrived on the same day and I was there when they were taken in... I don't know what your chap was looking at but they wouldn't have been sold in poor shape but you are correct in saying they flew out, both sold pretty much immediately. There are very few breadvans out there for sale at the mo.

from what i see the roadster prices are rising too.... for a relatively low mile car, prices seem to up across the board.... which is great news for ALL of us imo...

Apparently there was rust starting on the wheel arches of one and in the boot of the other. Enough to have him walk away after driving up from Cornwall. It was the Silver one he was after, which I belive was the better of the two. Not seen either myself, not even seen the adverts so just reporting what he told me. :)

A few months ago I went to look at a Z3MC with cash in my hand and serious plans to run it side-by-side with my Z4MC. For the money, there were just too many things wrong with it. I've been keeping an eye on the market for years and the asking prices have been going up and up, yet it's so often the same dodgy cars that are repeatedly readvertised at ever inflated prices. The truly good examples are advertised and sold within hours or days, leaving the rubbish floating around trying to hang on to their coat tails. I've more or less given up on the idea of a Z3MC in reasonable condition for a reasonable price and I'm now wondering how much Noble I can get for a little more money  .

as I've said before, both coupe and roadster in low mile, low owner form seem to be commanding solid pieces now days... both can be had cheaply however for higher mile, higher ownership cars...
i hope they both continue to rise.
