Z4 M experience

Hi

Just though I would share my experience with you all.

I have just bought a Z4M Roadster. The car was bought from a BMW dealer in south London . The deal was done over the phone (I live 250 miles away) subject to seeing each others car.

The deal was done last Saturday morning and I drove back home later that day. After stopping at the services the car was very hard to start. It splutted to life after turning the engine over for more than 10seconds. Once started the car drove great. Still having problems starting when the engine is warm and been left for more than 10 mins.

The next morning it would not start. called out BMW who via their lap top found a fault with the immobilser not reading the code on the key within a set time. The car started in the end but still problem starting from warm.

Local BMW dealer were quoting Friday to look at my car. Throughly peed off I phoned the dealer in south London who have picked my car up, left me with a 125 conv, and are working on mine now. Good service but wondering what happened to the 120 point check all Approved cars go through !!

I hope everybody elses Z4 is running fine, and any comments on the starting problem would be welcomed.

Pictures and spec to follow, if I ever get the car back !! :D

Welcome to the site. Hopefully they will be able to sort it soon. At least they have identified the fault so will hopefully be able to put things right quickly.

Look forward to seeing the pics.

Welcome to the forum. Shame the experience is tarnished slightly by the problems, but at least it is getting sorted properly now. Maybe you should suggest they make a 121 point check for future cars ;)

Not a good start. Mine was problemic at first, but all good now...(bar a Xenon bulb going this wk!!!)

Mate nearly every car (with the exception of my M) has had a few teething problems. At least the dealer is getting it sorted. I bet after the initial drama it won't give you any trouble, this has always been the case with me. Normally it's just a case of the having not been used in a while or given a proper run...

I'm sure this is exactly the case. Cars don't react well to lying around on dealers forecourts but once you get over a couple of gremlins you will be delighted.

I can't think of anything near the value of a Z4M that comes close to the pleasure they give (in car terms anyway!)

Once you get all the little issues sorted it will be a great car, mine has been the most reliable and trouble free car ive ever owned (touches wood), admitted its a weekend use only car during the summer months, i promise you will love this car to the max, just bear with these very small issue and you'll have a grin ear to ear soon, also bear in mind the issue you are experiencing isnt a commonly known ///M issue so i think youve just had alittle bad luck.

Had my car 4 years in April and it's been fantastically reliable, no problems starting and has now done 25,000 miles with me. Wouldn't dream of replacing it now with another performance car as nothing comes close for the money.
Hope you get the problems sorted and rollon Spring so you can really enjoy it :driving:

Welcome to the forum and Chin up. Don't let it put you off the car. Mines been trouble free apart a sensor fault
which produced the same starting when warm problems you mention. Sounds like a common fault, which cost about 259 at the dealers.
Mines been very reliable and I would buy another without any fear

I also bought my Z4M unseen from a dealer 400 miles away,1 week later had engine emissions light on.
Just booked it into my local BMW dealer and they fixed it.Nearly 8 months later and its still running sweet as a nut.
All will be fine, just a wee teething problem.
Car is amazing, just been out in the snow having a wee play, mega sideways with the dsc off 8) 8) 8) 8) :driving: :driving:

Thanks for the welcome.

The dealer phoned on Friday and told me the fuel injection system was losing pressure. They are working on it Monday morning :) Hope to pick it up before Xmas (weather permitting).

My wife is starting to like the 125i conv loan car, need the M back quickly :(

Just a quick update.

Picked the car up yesterday. The garage fitted 6 new injectors and seals to cure the starting problem. Seems to have worked. :)

Has anybody else had this problem ?

I forgot how much power the Z4M has. My 125i loan car felt so gentle in comparision, power really does corrupt !!

The car started off red in London and finished up black by the time I got home. Awful journey !!

Pictures to follow once I have cleaned it!

Glad they fixed it.

Having driven mine most days this week, it almost looks camoflaged.
