Yes, its that time of year!

It also means I have had the Z4 for a year, and it has been everything I had hoped for.

Got a quote from Chris Knott but just been on gocompare and there are many quotes cheaper. BUT can you trust the companies? Any opinions on the following:

Quotemehappy.com
GA - General Accident
Admiral
Elephant
Diamond

How did they come up with those names?!

For me, i went with Sky Insurance, on a markerstudy policy. I don't think you can trust any of them, they're insurers... I only renewed because they matched the Admiral price, and in London, Admiral group quote the best.

Admiral/elephant/bell/diamond etc are all the same .. Admiral group. I've used elephant in the past and their breakdown was pretty good (local guys so quick to respond, but quality of recovery guy questionable).

Also don't forget - confused.com is owned by Admiral, and e-sure owns a chunk of gocompare.com .. so .. yeah - they'll come up cheapest on their own site :)

Im with Elephant/Admiral and have been since 2005. All good and no complaints.
Cheeky that they sent renewal through at £375.00 this year when I've had no claims or incidents.

Quick phone call, reduced to £288.00, new docs issued on email. All sorted.

I can't help thinking that all the policies on price comparison sites have been ruthlessly pruned of features to make them competitive. That may also be true of policies that aren't on the comparison sites, of course.

An example: I recently had a windscreen chip repaired (on my new 530d before it had even covered 1000 miles - grrr!). As usual, the repairers claimed that I wouldn't have to pay if I have comprehensive insurance. They checked my certficate, and went ahead with the repair. A couple of weeks later I get a letter from them saying LV won't pay up, and can they have £49.95 from me, please. On close inspection, the policy says "Autoglass are our approved windscreen repairers".

@Wyldie85: What did you say in your phone call, to get £87 off the premium?

I'm on a MarkerStudy policy too - but through Keith Michaels.

Including mods (exhaust, intake, suspension & brakes), business use, 25k miles, Europe cover, parked on road/drive/car park in Liverpool & London, with an SP30 is just over £800 - which is less than I was paying for an unmodified policy with LV= and Bell.

As always, you won't know how 'good' they are until you come to claim or require customer services.

Keep an eye on the windscreen excess, as I found they ranged from £50 to £150.

Also if you have a job that can be described in multiple ways, then tweak the job title to the most boring sounding version as the price can fluctuate by 5% depending on your job (e.g. if I put graphic designer then it's £37 more expensive than if I put VDU Operator).
