Z4 insurance re-newel - Admiral - Shocked!

Hi all,

I'm in shock... Admiral just emailed me regarding my re-newel, so I gave them a call!

Firstly I found out that I paid for payment protection insurance that wasn't asked for on my existing policy, complained about that, they were very sorry and agreed to refund the premium for that!

Then to the insurance...

The price was £130 cheaper than last years, before the call I went onto compare the market actually found it a little cheaper than they quoted. I said match it or I'll go elsewhere, shockingly they matched it and gave me an additional £61 loyalty bonus! Covered my 3.0i Z4 for another year at £249 (Maybe being 40 dropped the price)

1 Claim + Windscreen, 3000k miles, fully comp, £250 excess! Well happy :)

Great price that. I'm also with Admiral and have a multi car policy, renewal was roughly £1400
Z4 was £240 as was the GTI, the rest was my boys E92 320d :o

Oh and it's my 50th this year

I learned very quickly not to trust any renewal. My first ever renewal was about double what I had been looking at on Confused.com etc.... When I called them I asked why they were quoting double the price of themselves on a comparison site the best excuse I got was "oh well sir perhaps that vehicle has gone up in insurance risk"

The car in question being a 1.6l diesel peugeot estate. Clearly the vehicle of choice for a boy racer. I now do a comparison every year however have now been able to move to eSure rather than Admiral.

Just had my renewal from Admiral its gone down only by 2 quid but £218 FC living on the outskirts of London is good enough for me did look online but nothing better so will stick with Admiral for another year.

Wait till you hit 50 Terryvision I got a good quote from Churchill when I turned 50 :o

Just a bit East of you terry, 41 and paying £250 for the ///M with all mods disclosed with Admiral. They dropped the price on mine by £50 when the renewal came through the letterbox. Couldn't get it cheaper anywhere else.

My renewal price from admiral was the same as I paid last year at £780! Looking at trying sky insurance but I got a quote from axa at £520 which I'm pretty happy with, works out at £10 a week so not bad.
Sky insurance is a specialist so I'm hoping it'll be cheaper still.

arriva for me £346 on the m just changed to 35is just dropped the price by £80 not bad I am happy .(but I am an old git )

Me and missus with Esure, they seem to be on the ball every year at renewal time..

£223 for the M with protected no claims and £250 excess..
£196 for Mitsubishi with PNC and £250 excess..

Offsets the £500 tax a bit !

and I'm a bit to the west but got fully comp with protected no claims, legal cover, £250 excess, 2 named drivers on the Alpina with Admiral for £220 last July, then when we got the X3 in September and setup a muilticar policy with them they rejigged everything for co-termination and reduced my Alpina premium to £185 p/a - if it keeps dropping at this rate they'll soon be paying me

I was with Admiral on a multicar policy but the the renewal was hiked, so I split the policies and got the Z4 insured with RAC for £137.

As a matter of principle I never accept a price match on the basis that they should have offered a best price first time round.

I had fun with insurance a few weeks ago, cars like the 320d were about the most expensive cars to insure in the BMW range.

I nearly always change insurance company's when it's time to renew. I don't know why but when I had my e30 admiral were unbeatable and now it's the same story with my zed. They must think bmw drivers are awesome.

My renewal came through from admiral at £780 and after a quick phone call to "give them a chance before shopping around" they came back with £468 which they asked "would that make you sign up today, so I agreed on a 3.0SI and I'm 25. Quite pleased, certainly pays to phone up.

Yep, stuck with admiral on renewal but only after challenging with quotes from Chris's knotts.
They are definitely for dropping premium to keep you, but why don't they do that to begin with...obviously there must be folks that accept the renewal offer.

Good start to the new year :)

I wouldn't even insure a turd with admiral. They might give low premiums but you just wait until you need to claim. I was involved in a no fault claim with police whiteness and it still took them a year to sort, gave a really low pay out and didn't even give me a courtesy car even though I had it on my policy. They didn't even bloody contact the offending party or their insurance for over 2 1/2 months!!

Shocking and I would now much rather pay a higher premium for a better service.

Rant over.
