I saw the Yas marina blue at silverstone on an M3 and it just doesn't look right, the way it catches the light, almost looks white on the highlights, very flat colour. The piston heads car was also there in Azurite Black and that looks great but not special. The reason I think it looks cool is because of all the carbon fibre it has on it but low and behold you can't buy the carbon bits from BMW. My local dealer had Sakhir orange and yellow austin M3/4 launch cars the Sakhir is probably the most stand out colour and Yellow Austin is like a more saturated Pheonix yellow which is awful IMO.
The thing is yes they must move on but there was only one or two questionable colours in the pallet whereas now the range is filled with bland standard colours and a couple of ridiculous bright colours that are completely marmite. No middle of the range colours if you want anything with any stand out quality its flat baby blue, baby sick yellow or burnt orange… all the rest are very sedate. 4 off white/grey colours, two blacks, 3 blue, one hideous brown even worse than sepang because it does look like poo.
They have made all the better colours you had to pay for as individual colours like Estoril blue standard colours now. So the non M versions have a better colour palette IMO.
Silverstone used to be one of my fav colour but the Silverstone II looks like its lost its sparkle too.
Since when could you not buy a red sports car for example. They haven't done well on the colour front at all, have a search on the web not very many happy people. Just not very M car like.
