Z4 in the snow....don't think it works well

Just driving back from Shrewsbury along the 'Test Track' a fast 'b classification' twisty road which is lovely to drive at speed. It's snowing heavily but not sticking. Approaches the Ironbridge bypass and give it some beans when suddenly as if it's just appeared the road is white and I'm sliding sideways at about 80mph uphill :o
Manage to get it back and dawdle up the hill at about 20mph with the traction light flashing furiously if I touch the accelerator...not fantastic in the snow on well worn 18's

You were doing 80mph in the snow in a RWD car?..... I'm not sure the problems you've experienced can be 100% levelled at the car.

Were you heading towards Jiggers Bank island?

The road from Jiggers to Atcham is fantastic - has a bit of everything that can be enjoyed at or below the speed limit.

Yes. You know the 'Test Track' well then. Used to be a favourite in the Westfield but just as much fun in the zed. The road just flows with no adverse cambers or sharp bends

80mph on a cold icy night with snow forecast?

I don't think it's the zed that has the problem mate. A good worker never blames his tools.

Was a game of chance tonight Lancs down to the Channel
80-100 miles in deep slush through the Midlands at 50/60mph I was glad of my winter Vreds
Never twitched at all but I doubt the BM & Merc guys on standard rubber could say the same

Think I'm going to avoid using mine as much as I can. With some of the comments here its making me understand the comments of "avoid the snow" and "make sure you put some slabs in your boot or bags of tates" that I got when I first got the car.

Granted as long as I'm sensible it should be alright, I'll avoid doing doughnuts in a carpark..

Now this is my only usable car (other than my van) I might think about winter wheels and tyres more seriously. Worn 255 rears are pretty useless. It's strange but the run flats feel so much worse in the cold weather...suppose they are even stiffer if they can't get up to temperature
