Z4 ignition fault

Hi; I am hoping I could get some help. My 2007 Z4 3.0i recently started missing when I accelerate. I was able to borrow a diagnostic code reader from a friend and read the fault code.

The only code showing is "P135B". which is identified as "Manufacturer Contrl Ignition System or Misfire." I have been unable to locate any definitive information about this code or what might have caused it to trigger. Does anyone happen to have knowledge abut this code or have access to a resource that might give a clue what causes it?.

I cleared the fault and drove the car for about 2 hours today, checking for codes every time I would stop. For the first 1 1/2 hours no problems. I did some city stop go driving as well as some back country roads at speeds up to 115mph. The car ran ultra smooth. Then suddenly I had to slow way down to avoid hitting a bicycle on a two lane country road. As I accelerated around him I got the miss again, and it happened several times over the next 5 miles. when I stopped I had the same P135B code again.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Not sure if you can switch them around. I think you're looking at a trip to a service shop. Hopefully someone will come along who knows more than I do though to give better advice

i would second the coil pack. you will need BMW software to determine the true location of the fault. will cost ya about £25 on ebay for a cable and CD but u will need to have some computer skills

Got lots of computer skills; I'm an electrical engineer and work on computers as a hobby.

I found a copy of Carsoft along with several others (SSS-progman, EasyDIS, Ediabas and INPA). Not sure what they all do but willing to give it a go. I ordered one of the ELM 327 Bluetooth devices yesterday, does anyone know if that will work with the above software? If not what sort of cable should I buy?
