Z4 Hard Top Wanted - ANY Condition considered (to make Fibreglass Roof Moulding)

Hi all,

We are looking for a fibreglass roof to use as an item to mould for us to re-make the Z4 roof for our new racing series called 'Z Cars'.

We would like to get hold of a roof which we can take a mould from, and make a cost effective replacement for the difficult to find and expensive original hard tops.

Any help would be much appreciated with this, and we could even maybe come to a deal with someone who would be able to lend us a roof that maybe needed repairing, and then we can repair, take a mould, re-paint and return the roof to it's owner?

Our new racing series should be great news for fellow 'Zedders' as we will be able to provide many parts we are developing for racing to the aftermarket, and look forward to seeing some of you at some of our race meetings in the near future.. whether it be as a spectator or participant!

I live in Wiltshire (near Castle Combe) so that sounds convenient, and work is based between Newbury and Reading in Berkshire.

I'm in Wiltshire too, and can be found frequently driving around and through the village of Castle Combe on a weekend :driving:

I also commute to Reading often with work too, but am based about half an hour from where you described anyway :thumbsup:

Very interesting both the series and the roofs. I may be interested in both in the future.

On a side note if you need any bits prototyping and or making please let me know. I would be very happy to help out. I am just down the road outside Oxford.
 
Hi all,

Thought I’d give you an update on this.

After loaning Gary my hardtop, stand and cover last year, I have tried on numerous occasions over the last few months to get it back. I’ve had messages and calls unanswered and not returned. It now seems like the company has been dissolved, and he has changed his telephone numbers.

I have also emailed him and not heard back.

If anybody has any advise of what I can do to try and get the hardtop back I’d really appreciate it; otherwise if anybody has a grey hardtop for sale please let me know.

This has been a hugely disappointing experience for me. And it’s made worse with it coming from a fellow forum member and seemingly likeminded enthusiast, who now seems to have disappeared.

If anybody knows Gary Feakins, or can pass the message on that I’m still waiting to hear from him, please let me know.

What a horrible situation and really sorry to hear this has happened.
Really gets my back up when people abuse our trust on these small forum conmunities. They end up ruining it for everyone.
I'd chip in some money to a donation pot to get you back into the situation you were before :thumbsup:
 
Wow Moheddine that is a shocker, unfortunately cannot help recover your hardtop but you have my utmost sympathy.

Thanks Usel. I think I’d have been wary if it wasn’t a forum member who clearly has a passion about zeds, but lesson learned.

Yeah, I’m temporarily based outside of the UK but when I recently went there everything was locked up. Spoke to the business next door and they said they think he has folded.

Thanks for this info though - will try and find out when/if they’re next racing

That’s what I plan on doing, if I find out when and where!
 
That is shocking!

Tbh you shoukd have asked for a returnable deposit as it's not exactly a cheap throwaway item, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
