z4 hard to see?

So did an early trip this morning to the supermarket so it was nice and quiet.

In a total of maybe 20mins driving I had 3 cars (different times and roads) all pull into my lane cutting me right up. Now one of them I'll concede was I think just changing lanes leaving very little gap between us as some people do, but the other two weren't so much cutting me up as driving into the side of my car causing me both times to slam my brakes on with them seemingly unaware until I sounded my horn. Both waved to apologize and seemed surprised when I sounded the horn - but that suggests they just didn't see me?

So my question as someone who hasn't owned a low sports car before, was this just dopey drivers early on a Saturday morning, or is it difficult for people to spot us? The cars were a golf and a civic, not large vans or 4x4s or anything.

Perhaps I should be driving with my lights on all the time?

Just glad I was wide awake enough to react in time.

ive noticed the same problem, never get cut off in the trusty fiesta. doesnt help that i can come flying up at speed in the zed though

Sounds like dopey drivers. Ive had a few people pull out on me, but don't think it's related to the vehicle size.

I have had afew near misses with white van drivers nearly reshaping my zed for me. Am extremely cautious of HGV's and vans when over taking them now. :?

I always drive with the lights on and feel it should be compulsory, makes it alot easier not to get hit and when you do and they say they didn't see you it's pretty obvious they weren't looking

You think a Z4 is hard to see, over on the 220 owner's forum the general consensus is to permanently run with your lights on because it's such a difficult car to see!

A zed is not difficult to see,it's just that some drivers don't like been overtaken by a car which far better than their's so they would rather cut you up than let you on your way :x

They certainly don't like an S-Max overtaking them or they need a fecking guide dog. Encountered several numpties heading up the M5 today. Sheesh, it's not exactly a small car either!

Over here I haven't had a problem with people not seeing me as most cars are only slightly bigger than you. Of course my daytime running lights are also on. Having been driving in Vegas where 3 out of 4 people (they say) are drunk, high, have been awake for over 24hrs, & primarily drive SUV's or big trucks - the little Z4 is tough to see. I had near misses every day in Vegas. It's made me be very alert of other drivers & I don't stay on the side of a car as much as can be helped. I increase speed a few MPH so that I do a smooth pass on people & don't hang about on their sides at all.

Hmm interesting to read people's comments, I wonder if it is to do with the height of the car and long low bonnet. I'm guessing it is harder to see but more likely poor driving on the part of others.

Guess as usual just have to keep my eyes peeled :!:

In just a few months of owning a zed I've had more people pull out on me from side turnings and roundabouts than in 8 years running around in an Elise which trust me, is even lower in profile than a Z4.
All but one have been van drivers who looked straight at me but still pulled out regardless.... :headbang:
