Z4 going £9995

It looks like my Z4 may have to be sold on but having had a quick look on Autotrader for price guides, they seem to be all over the place. I don't normally do this, but would be really grateful for any feedback regarding what sort of price I should sell the car for. The spec is as follows:

2003 (03)
34,000 miles
FBMWSH
Sterling Grey
Grey electric roof
18" 108 alloys (good condition) with 4 brand new tyres.
Red/Grey leather interior
CD player - EDITED: 6 CD Auto changer
Air con
Xenons
Auto wipers
Facelift rear and side lights
stubby aerial
Carbon roundels,badges and wheel centres
Sport Button

oh, and cup holders! :D

There's probably a few other bits I've forgotten.....


The car's in superb condition with no stone chips and I've always garaged it.
Full 12 month MOT and 6 months tax.


Any ideas?
 
Depends how quickly you want to sell it!! I spent months searching for mine to find a very wide range of prices! If you want to wait I guess you could get around £12k for it but for a quick sale maybe £11k. I ended up having 30 cars HPI'd and priced by a friend in the trade!! Some people expected 12k for a car with 70,000 miles... the trade price was around £7k, hence why they are still for sale on pistonheads!! At the end of it all, a car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. If time is on your side then start high! Obviously a few other factors will affect the price, when is the next service due etc. I am no expert but hope this helps a bit.
 
Firstly I'd wait 2 months if you can until the weather improves. There's a good chance it wil be worht a bit more.
Next I'd key it into Parkers.co.uk and see what they say. You can pay a small fee and do various adjustments for mileage, etc.
 
I'm in the same position as you. Want to sell to free up £5-6K to put towards a house deposit (looking at buying to let) so the Z is goig have to go. I'll be extremely sad when it leave as its always been my realistic dream car and I've had it and loved every single minute of ownership. The way I see it is if I make good use of the money I free up then in 18 months I could be in a Z4M :driving: Fingers crossed...

I too haven't got a lue how to price my car. Its a great combination of coour like yours and has a the options but all the prices are all over the place.

I did this when i wanted to get a "accurate" valuation of my last zed which was heavily speced like yours - worth the few quid it costs.
then the usual comparision between wisebuyers online, other adverts etc
 
I doubt you would see much more than £10k - I had a higher spec car until last week, admittedly with 58k on the clock which I only got £8k on trade in...
 
Do you have the equivalent of Edmunds.com in the UK? You can plug in your car specs and it will tell you what private sale, trade in and dealer asking price will be. It's a freebie on this side of the pond.

It's a 2.5 (SE - I think. How do I tell? This has always confused me)
 
Smokin', I guess something like Parkers is our equivalent, or this...

I've posted this before, but you can get a Glass's Guide trade-in valuation FOR FREE via the Vauxhall Network Q used car website. I believe this usually costs, plus it's unusual to get access to Glass's Guide prices as it's THE main guide used in the trade.

Glass's is generally far more accurate and more reflective of the current market conditions than Parkers. Shame it's only the trade-in value it gives you, but it's a start. It's the "bible" a car dealer will consult before offering you a trade-in value...

Just done it for my 2004/54 3.0i SE on 24k miles:
Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition: £10650
Average condition: £9680
Below average condition: £8630

However, I had a sneaky look at an actual Glass's Guide book last week (my father-in-law the car dealer!) and here are the values for a 2004/54 3.0i SE. That's based on having metallic paint and 18" alloys, and having covered 55k miles.

Trade-in value (average condition): £9,850 (what you should expect trading it in)
Retail price: £12,550 (what you'd expect to pay from a franchised garage)
 
And using that site a11y posted here's my valuation:

Estimated value of your car with 48k miles:

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition: £9610
Average condition: £8720
Below average condition: £7770

doesnt allow any adjustment for any modifications/extras etc though..

Yep, that's a quite big limitation of it unfortunately. Not sure how much extras add financially though, although certain ones certainly make it easier to sell on: I'm thinking the likes of heated seats in roadsters, upgraded stereo, xenons perhaps).

I did notice in the notes section of the actual paper book that prices in it are based on Z4s having metallic paint and 18" alloys - they seem to assume all Z4s are specced like that (sorry to all the folk with 17"s).
 
seems a good price, nice looking car as well. good luck with the sale. Seems a lot of people on this forum are putting their zed's up for sale, real shame.
 
I think where you've put it is about right :D

Don't let anyone haggle too much though, as coming in to spring values will improve so you won't lose out by holding on to it longer :)

that network Q site's kinda interesting - its also a bit out - saying my new car is (in excellent condition as I just picked it up from the dealer) worth £1,300 more than I paid (without allowing for extras).

Close, but no cigar :)
 
Cheers for all the input guys. I'd prefer to keep hold of the car to be honest, but I need to free up some reddies. I'll be back though! :D
