Z4 getting to be as common as dirt here

So, Santa Cruz is basically a bedroom community for Silicon Valley in California. We're a formerly small beach town with a real mixed demographic. Seems like we're either yuppies or dish washers with a few non-professional professionals like myself thrown in.

Anyways, on the way home the other night, I noticed another Maldives Z4, but with a tan roof. About 2 minutes later, i'm behind one with a black roof. 3 Maldives Z4s in one mile, what are the odds here in SC?

So tonight, i'm making my way home through town and a gray one passes me slowly. Driver looking straight ahead, no flicker or anything from the head. Snob. Oh well, here comes a black one, and same thing. She goes right by me without even a look. Wednesday, I saw an orange haired witch driving a montego blue 3 liter. Tuesday, I saw a guy in a black Z4 dropping his daughter off at the school my son goes to. Of course, in the parking lot of the school is yet another 3 liter grey Z4.

I used to be able to drive all week and all i'd see are the Z3M with the pretty brunette and the IB M Roadster. Now i'm seeing Z4s all over the place. They're getting more and more common. Coupled with the treasurers 3.0si at work, I really don't feel so special anymore. I'm ALMOST willing to buy one of those bastardized Z4s you guys call a coupe just to stay a little unique! But i'm not that desperate yet!
 
They've seemed to pick up here as well. Definitly on base they have. There are now 6 total vs 4.
 
I bought a Carrera last year. Even they are getting common. Z4's seem as common as Miata's.
What is really common is a sports convertible. Everyone makes one, everyone owns one. It seems when I bought my Z4, they didn't really offer a lot of convertibles.
 
Ahh...just another reason to love living in Michigan. Sometimes weeks go by without seeing another Z4. There are a couple grey 2.5s running around town one black 3.0 with white racing stripes :? , a red 2.5 with a tan top and that somes it up. I have never seen a coupe or another 3.0Si and only one Z4M on the road and that was two hours north of here.

Yal, I actually waved at one, just like mine on Hwy 1 yesterday...like you not a flicker of notice. I did see a Z8 parked in my lovely home town of Los Altos, gave it a once over, but didn't say hello, as i was not in MY Z.

Don't mention the Z and Miata's. Sheesh, not even the same caliber weapon.

Okay, I work in the GPS industry for the GPS leader, but please PLEASE tell me what that long and lat equals so that you even know of my home town. Its very small. And Yal, if I was that lucky, I'd be able to live in Los Altos not just hang out there.

Ive not seen another one in Leicester for about 2 weeks!

I normally see more cars when i own one as well.

Question: why do you have a Boxter and a Z? Aren't they similar enough that it would be tough to pick which to drive?

I just drive one for a few weeks and then the other for a few weeks. I think the question is why have 2 similar cars... Well i got rid of the Lotus Elan thinking of buying an Elise. But i really like the look of the Z4 too and consider a BMW OC better than the Lotus Dealer.

Long term im upgrading one of the soft tops to a 997 Cs but its hard to choose which would go at the moment.
