Z4 full of spanners

My 2003 3.0 has started to make a clattering noise when accelerating, only seems to happen when it's been very cold and/or she hasn't been run for a couple of days. I think the noise is coming from in front of me and it sounds like somebody's rattling a handful of nuts and bolts in a metal bucket. Anyone come across this problem/ideas?

Humm - hard to diagnose with this description - can you put up a vid with the noise at all?

Sounds like a heat shield... perhaps get the car on a ramp and check none are loose?
