Z4-forum weekender: Applecross/Scotland - 18-20th May 2012!

Well you lot can forget slagging off us "hatchback" drivers then expecting to use some of our boot space. :poke:

I have the added advantage of upfront "extended luggage space" instead of those pesky extra 2 cylinders. That means I can cook the meat as well as transport it to the campsite

No need, always managed to gt everything in, including seats and carpets lol and still put the roof in the correct position.

Just a thought, when we go to get food from Loch Carron, is there a full size shop or are we going to be raiding a butchers? If so, will we need to pre-order anything? I can't imagine they'll have enough stock in for us, plus the MX5 crowd on top of their usual customers!

As I am flying solo I will now be able to utilize the other 3/4 of the boot She normally takes up. :D

*EDIT* just read that back, I mean she doesn't actually travel in the boot, normaly.

There'll be plenty of room in my boot I should think as we're not camping, just got an overnight bag each and the rest can be filled with BBQs :)

That's a really good shout. I've just e-mailed the shop in Loch Carron - they offer holiday deliveries where they'll stock a holiday cottage in Loch Carron, so I've asked them if we'd be able to possibly order a load of BBQ food that could be collected on the Saturday. I'd hate for there not to be enough food as someone - not me  - would go hungry...

and come back via the A86, the chance to drive that road again is to good an opportunity to miss especially if you can get a clear run.

I reserve the right to peel off on the A86 on the way back and head for Aviemore so I can come back down the Old military road through Tomintoul and Ballater then head back through the Cairngorms for home.

Just love that road

Happy to be of service :D

Now if they could arrange a nice BBQ pack for us and we can just divvy up the cost that sounds good to me, we'll also need to consider the booze supply (not that I'll want much with driving the next day) and the other little essentials like burger buns, can't do a BBQ without them! :)

I will be bringing my own BBQ pack as usual, like to get my meat marinated in plenty of time, Plus my T-Bone from my fav butchers.

Will we just get BBQs up there? Has anyone got a foldable one or something better than a Tesco £4 job? :)

Dont think a gas one would fit my boot (or a hatchback's boot either)...!

BBQ ain't a BBQ if it doesn't involve charcoal

I'm just bringing a disposable BBQ - need to have something that Mrs a11y can use as she's fussy (aka veggie). Had a trial packing of the boot yesterday having just bought a new tent and think I'll have space for all the food I'll need inc a small coolbag for Saturday's meat, so probably not going to bother shopping on the Sat. However, THIS is the shop in Loch Carron I've e-mailed re a food order so I'll report back if I hear anything. I'm keen not to drive on the Sat unless absolute necessary, although everyone's free to suit themselves :)

I'm liking the look of that mate - think I might buy one as well. Only problem will be fitting in the charcoal!

We'll deffo bring a couple of disposable barbies and I reckon I'll have to go and get suppplies on Saturday, I wouldn't fancy eating any thing perishable that's been hanging around in the boot since Thursday morning.

Fold up barbie looks good value but I've already got too much crap in my shed.
