Z4-forum weekender: Applecross/Scotland - 18-20th May 2012!

Ally - am I understanding that right? You can only convoy along the route during those times? How on earth is that enforced?

If it is enforced and we're not there at the right time can we all just pretend not to know each other?

I'm guessing the no-convoying times are when the train is due! A Super Sprinter rattling along behind you would certainly motivate you to speed up!

Hmmmmm. :(

I was just fancying upgrading my tent pitch to a camping hut only to find that they're suddenly all booked. Why could that be do you think?

Just have to have faith in the weather, last time I camped anywher we packed up early and went home before we developed fins and gills. Oh well.

Still looking forward to it.

Are we not avoiding that route for now? That's what I thought :?
The plan is to avoid this road, but if conditions improve then I'd be keen to reinstate the original/direct route as it's an awesome drive.

Yeah, they've got to allow for the, err, slower varieties of car... (plus I guess the convoys are controlled by lead cars - not a free for all!)

Wasn't me! We've just bought a new tent (carpet pending). If it rains then we'll just have to retreat to the pub. Darn it :icb:

I guess that's made the decision for me - I'll not be in the a wooden shack and I will be packing a tent!

Definitely sounds like you should book up the pub Ally, if they have suddenly sold out and it's not been by us lot then there may be another group of some sort going there that weekend.

oi. I'm going. Add me to that list :chairfight: (booked camping at Applecross).

Is it safe for Nosa to be out without the missus? :) Means you're speed limiter won't be working.

List in first post edited to reflect Nosa's SWMBO-free status, and adding cj_eds who I missed

That's us in double figures for cars :) (I think Guiseley's still a definite?)

It's safe for Nosa. Whether it's safe for the rest of us is another matter altogether...

I'll book us all a table at the Applecross Inn for the Friday later on - hopefully they're OK with it. See menu HERE.

I keep watching this thread hoping some magical solution will appear and I can make it - Nosa has even offered to transport Wee Bing if I bring everyone, but 500 miles for him in the boot to get to the start point is a little far I think. So, thanks for the encouragement Nosa  , but I can't find a place to park Wee Bing for the 5 days we'd be away

I'll be pootling round London on the 20th with NickM et al at early-o-clock instead - hardly a substitute (sorry Nick, if you read this :P ) but it will be great fun and I'll meet you guys on a Scottish meet at some point, or at the Lakes meet in July if you're going :D

Can your Mrs not jump on a plane or train the day before whilst you and the wee man drive up. Expensive I know but just ensuring you have explored all options
Plus wee Bing would also act as an inbuilt speed limiter for me  as I would not want a rolloking from your Mrs

Guiseley and mrs Guiseley have a similar problem to Bing - cant leave them for that long and they need to be home to study. So it's a last minute decision for me -- 60/40 towards coming tho

Glad to see we're trying hard to get Bing along

Agree with Nosa - get Mrs Bing on the plane

Doesn't look like Kirsty can make this one, so I'll be flying solo. This is good, as I wont have any complaints for having the roof down if its cold, and there will be no audible speed limiter

I'm officially out of this meet unfortunately but can't wait to see the pics. 10+ cars is an outstanding effort for such a trek! :driving:

See, actually that's the other problem - can't take him out of school for 3 days. Darn it, forgot about that :x

*Sigh*

With 2 solo flyers already, perhaps I should just ditch them both for 5 days

Do it you know it makes sense, if by some miracle I do make this meet I will also be flying solo and camping in my small compact tent but might leave the carpet at home this time.

Ally I'll you let you know for definate as soon as I do, but it really could be that I just turn up on the Friday morning.

Applecross Inn now booked for 16 folk for Fri 18th May @ 6.30pm :)

I tried for 7pm but they said it'd be easier if we could make it down for 6.30pm - hopefully we'll all be there and set up the tents in time! Shall amend the booking number nearer the time if things change.

Sounds good to me :)

Really looking forward to the Inn on the Friday and will make sure that me and Cat have a suitably sized cooler full of meat for the Saturday BBQ

Getting all excited now
Looks very nice could be tempted by that myself if I make it, especially as I have enough points on my Hilton card for a free stay  Shame SWMBO won't be with me  .
