Big problem at the moment is the part-closure of the A890 at Stromeferry - it's the obvious route to get there especially as we're starting from Stirling. The latest is the A890 is still blocked by a landslide but they're diverting cars along mats placed on the railtracks alongside the road, sounds dodgy for low-slung cars! I'm following progress on this via PH/BBC website and will base a route around what's open!

It's still that bit of road closure that's stopping me confirming a final route. The alternatives all add quite a bit of distance and I'm not entirely happy with them thus far. Been checking out the routes in more detail. Happy with all suggestions but would rather stay in Applecross as originally planned. Also keen to keep the tent option alive, and would prefer not to have to pitch a tent twice....

I may be up for this, just need to find a travelling buddy to help with petrol costs and share a room with in the B&B.
I'm afraid I have no desire to camp but will try and find the closest B&B or may consider one of those huts, even though the mattresses look less comfortable than the ones down the local nick...

I don't recall many complaints when you were all sheltering from the somewhat inclement weather at one point.
Just because you are camping doesn't mean you have to slum it.
Afterall how else would you be in a position to capture priceless moments like this.

Anyway it was the only way I could convince my good lady wife to try camping, there was no way she was going to scamble in and out of a compact tent on her hands and knees.
So here it is in all it's glory on a practice errection in the back garden.
Seriously for those put off camping or reluctant to try it, don't scrimp, buy good gear and a large tent it really does transform the experience, so much so that my good lady wife is actually prepared to go camping more often.

If you can't find a travel buddy, I'm up for sharing a hut. At £38/night for a glorified chicken shed, it would be good to share costs!
