Z4-forum only trackday

Sounds like fun... give MSV a shout - www.motorsportvision.co.uk

Now... I know this is a forum day, but do we need to bring a Z4? :)

To be honest though, if you can't get a Z4 day together the BMW club events are good fun.

Now you guys are talking my language!!! Count me in. And if you need a few people to make numbers up I have 3 friends with M3's and one with an M5 who may well be up for it

Sounds like fun , havnt done one yet so would be nice introduction with friends.

Sure we'll be gentle... although you're car's got to pass the dB noise test first!

Come on flimper, where's the details for the day, we're ready to go :poke:

Is this doable? How many of us would be needed to get it on?

You need around 60 cars to do a trackday at most UK circuits rising to 75 at Donington and upwards of 100 at Silverstone

Getting 60 people to pay up is easier said than done, believe me I know all about it!

There are dedicated BMW trackdays, I run them.. but we don't do a Z only trackday.

There are many more ///M cars out there doing trackdays than Zeds, but you would be a brave organiser if you decided to run an ///M car only trackday as I don't think you would make the money to cover the circuit hire,

If you went to MSV they could give you your own group on a sessioned day if you could get 25 or so other Zeds to join you

Good luck
Nick

That sounds like the way forward :driving:

As for organising it, I couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, where's Srhutch when you need him? :poke:

Did someone shout :D

Sounds intersting, will give my insurance company a ring first I think.

It may be close! Although Ben's always got through okay. Mine is way under, although that's barely any louder than stock

I don't bother with my insurer, can't remember who now, but use a track specialist insurer. If we get that far I'll dig out the details.

MORISoffer good rates - and is my choice of insurer for the 'Ring (public & private days).

Don't know what their take is on a privately organised event over a ATDO-member organised one :?

Very interested if the timing is right - I need 6-8 weeks notice to take a day off work :headbang:

Sorry, this dropped off my radar... anyway, it is going to be hard to get our own track day so I think the next best thing would be to pick a BMW one that a group of us can make.

I have a chat with Nick Wright a little while back and he kindly sent through some details of the BMW track days he's sorting out.

Nick Wright said:
I usually do 5 BMW trackdays a year for the Club, and to be honest it's getting harder to fill them although (touch wood) we have yet to lose money on an event.

Silverstone GP circuit is our main event each year - out on the big circuit and using all the F1 paddock - I aim for 125 cars each paying £275 just to break even on the £30k circuit hire!

The more 'modest' circuits cost around £10k to hire in the summer months. So you need lots of commitment, or you risk getting your fingers badly burnt

In a full entry of every sort of BMW, I have never had more than a handful of Z4's

In all honesty, I would not bother doing your own - even a 'cheap' airfield day runs into £thousands - and forum people (god bless 'em) get exited very quickly but pay very slowly, if at all.

You are more than welcome to use one of my days if you wish and if you could get a reasonable sized group together I would extend our club discount to you all and you would get the best price.

The trouble is, like me they are all northern!

Here is the blurb I send to our members - remember the prices are for your group and our members only

Confirmed track dates for 2012

Feb 22nd - Oulton Park - £120 - full circuit

May 14th - Cadwell Park - £175 - full circuit

July 16th - Croft - £200 - (one of the very few noisy trackdays allowed here this year)

Sept 24th - Silverstone Arena GP - £275 - full Grand Prix circuit and paddock

Nov 7th - Oulton Park - £120 - full circuit

All our trackdays are exclusive hire (that's just us), are open pitlane and have generous sound limits, usually 105db.
Entry numbers are capped to a sensible amount of cars.
Free professional ARDS instruction at each trackday.
Friendly club atmosphere
Trophies and Prizes
All abilities catered for
Prices shown assume BMW Car Club membership
Non members welcome

Probably suit our northern members, I think they're a little far for me, and Silverstone a little pricy. Will keep and eye out for other days in the south.

I have changed the last one on the list
We are going to Snetterton now instead of Oulton
So the last one this season should say
November 7th - Snetterton 300 - £130

Don't forget to mention that all the Z4 forum people you can rustle up as a group can have the same price and benefits as my club members

Regards
Nick
