Wow, that's quite an itinerary! You've certainly covered all the bases for what would be a fantastic week's driving.

I think it's important for people to realise that this is more than a week. By the end of that itinerary as it stands, everyone would be knackered. You really would have to add a day or two in there to stop and relax by a pool. Grasse would be a good venue for one day off.

I think I have the solution... Aebous will (i'm sure) take your sister away and you can come on the road trip :D

Anyone know when the 2010 Ring Calender is out? We need to see that first before making any decisions.

It definitely isn't out yet. I think it may only become available as late as March next year. I seem to recall from the says I used to go regularly that it came out quite late.

That makes it a bit difficult then.

Not really. Quite often the 'ring is still under a blanket of snow in March.

The way to do it is to plan for a general time of year, like just before or after the summer holidays, pick a couple of weekends and block them out, then when the TF guide is published, you just go ahead and commit everyone on those dates. You can still get all the planning out of the way.

Am I right in thinking you can hire a 'ring taxi to take you around at a proper pace? Or did I dream that?

That is correct, but you usually need to either book a year in advance or just turn up on the day to see if someone has cancelled/has a spare seat.

You can also choose whether you want an outright 'fast' lap, or a more scary 'slow' lap.

Thanks mmm-five.

Well first thing we will need to do is to settle on a date. Then we can see who wants to try and book a taxi!

But would I be able to go on the roadtrip? :poke:

What's with those 9am wake ups (knock up for you English chaps)? If we are waking up that early that limits my drinking :D :x
J/K, if there's driving to be done (even the next day) you'll be lucky if I have more than 3 beers.

Anyone have an idea of what something like this would cost?

that's a good itenery  there's some really fantastic roads along some of those days..
9am starts tho? you're lucky if I'm out of bed at 9am on a workday.. lol

Would it be B&B or hotels along the route, as obviously that impacts pricing (though I'm sure a largeish group booking warrents a discount :P)

You are not even premitted to be in the same country when my sister is around :poke:
Well...you are an american...so i imagine 3 pints is about as much as you could handle anyway...

Well, it could be rejigged, but unless you get a fairly early start, the trip gets longer by a couple of days. My inclination is to have two "committed driving" days followed by a "relaxing" day. Otherwise it all takes too long.

Probably hotels, although they would be bottom-to-middle of the price range places. It's not going to be a cheap holiday though.

If you want to maximise your time - or chance of time - on the 'Ring then you'll have to be up and out of the hotel by 7:30am to be in the queue for the first couple of quiet laps (i.e. before all the day trippers arrive). Be prepared for massive queues and 1-4 hour delays when there's an accident or a public holiday

No worries about me on the 9am times. I was just poking fun. I agree with you on the long driving days, I'd rather get an early start as I can drive all of day light hours with almost no problem if I had a decent night sleep. Let the sky get dark on me and I tire easily.

7:30am?? geez. I think i'll get the girlfriend insured on the car... that way she can queue up, and I'll join her at 11:30 when she reaches the front of the queue, after four extra hours in bed :P
