I'd be up for an elongated trip... france / italy / wherever the good roads are.. as long as we do go to the ring for a day it's all good :D

Thats pretty much where I am with it tbh. If it's only one day at the Ring, those who don't wanna take part can just have an easy day, and watch or passenger with people etc.

Sounds perfect. I'd like to visit the Ring but not spend several days there, especially as I've no interest in risking my car on the track. Well up for a passenger ride in an /M though! :D

If it's between ~20th July and ~4th September, excluding the GCSE results day (whatever the Thursday is in the 20-something of August) I am 100% up for this.

If I hadn't been busy this summer buying the Z4 (!) then I'd have done it this year. It's something I was going to do next year anyway.

As I say, 100% count me in for anything at all, be it Stelvio, Germany, Croatia, or even spending a week touring round doing the whole lot. I'll have 6 weeks holiday to fill :D

id be interested to, ive been looking at a road trip to the Lambo & Ferrari museums in italy as they are not very far apart

THAT would be an excellent idea! +1 to that.

The problem with these differing ideas is we will go from a 3 day run to the 'ring costing £300 or so each to a week long run across Europe costing a £1,000 each :?

Factor in time and cost and not everyone will want to do the longer trip. So first decision is to figure out what the majority wants to do, pick a date, accept that some won't be able to make it then get some numbers. :)

.

or split it into two parts ? some to leave after the ring, some to carry on?

just a thought.

i vote we leave Woots at the ring, he'll only be a quarter of the way round when we set off to Spa anyway.

familiar sight:

Many of you already know this, but for those who don't, keep in mind that the track isn't open everyday to the public, even those open days have restricted hours, and the track can be closed with no notice for many other reasons, not the least of which is accidents. The last time I was there about a month ago, the track was 'open' from 6 p.m. until sunset at 7:20. There was a large group of Porsches from France that had come there for a few laps, as well as many others. Track opened at 6:05, closed at 6:20 due to a bike crash, re-opened just before 7. Lots of long faces in that crowd. The key is to be as flexible as poss. A good site for just about everything you need to know is:

You know....if he's that close you should of let him pass because he is faster in the corners than you!!! :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: :fuelfire:

When the brainstorming is done, we'll have to start a new thread with times/dates/locations polls, so we can get a better idea of what to do.

Anymore suggestions??....

Here's my suggestion:

Drive down first thing on a Friday morning, getting the £100 ferry return option. Drive across the north of Europe and do the 'Ring, as such. This will probably last until late on Sunday.

After this anyone who can only spare 3/4 days (including the weekend) should drive back and return to England.

Anyone else staying could take a little tour and head down towards Italy over a day or so, then spending a day or two in Italy seeing the showrooms and perhaps some scenic driving. Then I suggest a trip back up through a different part of (central) Europe to take in some mountain passes.

By this point you're probably 6 days in. If it takes people's fancy there's the opportunity for an evening in Holland or France or somewhere, before finally returning home at some point during the following weekend.

Total trip time = approx. 7-8 days.

If thats from the Wales run, get the rest of the piccies up Mr!! :D

I personally wouldn't do Switzerland, as it's very car hostile, although I can understand the appeal of a Davos to Stelvio run. However, you can have just as much fun in Germany or France and it will be cheaper.

Oh, and if you do want to do the 'ring, it does constrain your dates severely due to the small number of TF days.
