Z4 Forum Euro Roadtrip '10?

The prices for laps around the 'ring this year were £20 for one lap, £68 for four and £130 for eight.
I'd expect they'd be pretty much the same next year also, but obv. does depend on the exchange rates.
We stayed in "Pistol Pete's" B&B, which is literally round the corner from the ring entrance and has 16 rooms (most twin, some triples).
It worked out at about £32 per person, per night for the twins, and £22 per person for the triples.
all in all, the ferry, ring and hotel cost me £190 (exc fuel and food) for a three day trip!

Track day insurance for the 'Ring is only valid for a closed track day, not for tourist days. Your UK road policy provides the minimum 3rd party cover when driving on the 'Ring, however the insurance company can (and probably will) come after you to recoup any losses they incure due to you stuffing it into the armco or another car.
There are very few companies that will cover you fully for the 'Ring and the one I used to use has since withdrawn both track day and 'Ring cover.
The 'safest' way to drive the 'Ring on a tourist day is to rent a car from somewhere like RSR which is insured for the 'Ring - you can hire everything from a Caterham to a 135 to a 911 GT3.
My normal bill for a long weekend at the 'Ring is £1000.

you need to read your insurance policy carefully.
My bike insurance covers me perfectly on the 'ring on an "open" day.
However, my 300ZX insurance wouldn't, as in the wording it explictly stated it exculded "de-restricted european toll roads".
If there is no mention of the exclusion of "derestricted toll roads", "or public roads used as race tracks at any time",
then I believe you "should" be covered under the normal "european travel" part of your insurance during the open days, as the 'ring is, after all, a public german road.
What's also not mentioned is breakdown / recovery cover... I'm with the RAC and know for a fact their european cover specifically excludes Nordschleife..

My old policy specifically excluded the Ring. I will check me current one.
As far as breakdown cover goes, lets going before the middle of May, as thats when my Euro wide BMW cover ends! lol

I'm very interested in this but would much prefer a scenic drive to southern France or Italy than just focussing on a 'Ring trip.

Thats pretty much where I am with it tbh. If it's only one day at the Ring, those who don't wanna take part can just have an easy day, and watch or passenger with people etc.
