Z4 EPS fault

I’ve just had the dreaded electric power steering fault light come on. I managed to clear it by resetting the steering angle sensor and I thought that was that. Went back to drive it the next day and it’s back on again, this time I’ve had no luck resetting it. The steering angle is fine, I read it on INPA and I’ve also been told this would not affect the light in the dash.

I find it hard to believe the motor has failed seeing as it started working again fine. I’ve checked power to the motor and both the main power cable and the coms cable (pin 5) has 12v. I haven’t yet checked the signals from the torque sensor.

Hi Aaron. Where are you based? To check the motor I took it out and left it connected… it’s pretty easy to see if it’s working or not. I’ve taken it out a couple of times now… the last time took about 20 minutes with the steering wheel and chair left in… so could be an option.
