A while ago I posted my intentions to purchase a Z4 as a commuter car. Well after several months of looking, the car gets here today! I ended up purchasing a 2006 3.0si roadster with the paddle shifters. The car only had 38k miles on it and has been serviced regularly by BMW dealerships. This is the first time Ive ever purchased a car from out of state, so Im excited and nervous for it to get here.
As a brand new/first time owner of a BMW, and a convertible I have a couple of questions that you guys may be able to help me out with.
1. How do you properly care for the rag top?
2. Are automatic car washes totally off limits?
3. If I drove the car to work and left the top down in the parking lot for 8 hours, is the leather likely to get dry and crack?
4. I drive 35 miles into work on the highway with stop and go traffic on occasion. The automatic transmission with the paddle shifters seemed like a good choice. Am I going to regret having this transmission?
5. If you were going to upgrade anything on the car, i.e. wheels, stereo, performance etc., what would you do first?
6. Will my wife try to take my car away from me?
If any of you have any other advice or recommendations for caring for this car, I would greatly appreciate it!
