Z4 e89 - Speakers behind seats...

Hi All,

Just curious are any of the components in place for the Speakers behind the seats? I.E Speaker cable and amps ?

Wondered as mine doesn't have any speakers behind the seats if the cables and power feeds are still there ? And I just need to fit the speakers in?

Cheers,
Jon

Mine didn't have speakers/subs behind the seats only the mids in the speaker panel just at the shoulder. Certainly no amps and no wiring. Just the basic shi^^y 6 speaker set up.

Cheers, yeah yours sounds the same as mine then.

Did you take the rear seat panelling out then to see if there was anything behind ? I mean directly behind the seats.

Thanks,

I fitted an amp in the boot with crossovers, replaced the originals with Focals and then added a sub. Whilst working on the car I found no evidence of extra wiring I'm afraid. I fitted the amp where the BMW amp would have been fitted.

Tidy install mate! Good work. Did you build a box to house the Speaker ?
How did you wire in the Amp to the headunit ? or did you have to go aftermarket ?
How do after market installs work with the I - DRIVE ? :-/ ?

Thanks,

Thanks. I took the signal that went to the front speakers and put that through a LOC that then split the signal equally between front and rear. I used that for the amp inputs. I used a 4 channel amp. Used the rear speaker signal from the LOC for the sub and the front signal from the LOC for the footwell, door and tweeters. I used pin 13 from the head unit to switch the amp on/off. Kept the original, proffesional head unit. Cost me around £400 for the parts.

Forgot to say the sub can run as free air. It's a Kicker 8" driver. Not the biggest but I'm very happy with the overall sound.
