Z4 E89 - Sdrive20i/Sdrive28i

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here, but thought I'd see if I can find my first BMW Z4 on here.

I am looking for a E89. Looking for a 2 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, so can be either sdrive20i or sdrive28i! Will consider both Manuals and Autos.

Some requirements:

Maximum mileage: 65k (the lower the better)

Colour: Preference is for something that stands out, ideally Atacama Yellow! Valencia Orange is another great option :) If there is a car that ticks all my other requirements, then I will consider Melbourne Red or Deep Sea Blue!

Specification: MSport, Heated Seats is a must, PDC sensors would be preferable, idrive/Sat Nav (nice, but not too fussed)

Please get in touch with what you have, I am ready to buy asap for the right car!

Looking for something in the 10k-14k range... (Dependent on spec)

Welcome..

Facelift was 2013 model year…so by definition no Atacama Yellows…

Given how negligible the facelift was and how cosmetically most aspects can be cheaply retrofitted you may wish to ponder on your exclusion of AY?

Quite a few red n blue options out there..good luck with your search..

Hi,

My bad, (I have updated my listing), the terminology I used was incorrect... I am basically after a 2 litre turbo 4 cylinder engine vehicle as appose to the 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engines. Hence why I stated 2012 or later. This therefore would include Atacama Yellow vehicles.

Unfortunately being abroad for work meant I missed out on a gorgeous 2012 sdrive20i Atacama Yellow vehicle... Now I can't find one on the market other than a categorised vehicle.

Hi and welcome.
Why specifically no 18i? The N20 engine is exactly the same in the 18, 20 and 28 just with different engine software maps from the factory (modern marketing). A very cheap engine remap (£300) on all will give the same safe power figures of around 270bhp and 340 (ish) nm.

The ONLY difference between a factory standard 18i and 20i is the temperature controls and something like the auto dipping rear view mirror IIRC!
The 28i had bigger front brakes (slightly) than both the 18i and 20i, that's it!

The 18i with a remap is a very good buy, as they are a good bit cheaper (because the average Joe/ car dealer doesn't know what we know).

Unless you really have to have numbers printed on the temperature control knobs, then I wouldn't discount a 18i. The designation badges on the side are easily removed if required!

I have an 18i M-sport with a good spec and a remap. I really wouldn't expect anything more from a 2L turbo engine TBH. It's great fun! :D
I will admit without a remap the 18i is awful. It is strangled by the engine map; feels like a restricted motorbike.

Also: all 18is are LCI, cos that's when they were introduced (March 2013).

Standard spec on 18i's is quite poor, those numbers on heater controls you talk about is not just numbers. It's manual single zone air con as opposed to dual zone climate control. They didn't even come with leather as standard. To get a 18i with good spec the first owner would have to have spent a lot on extras in which case they may as well have purchased the 20i. Most likely a 20i would be a better bet but should not rule out a 18i if it does have a decent spec list.

If dual zone climate (very basic on the E89) is important in a 2 seater convertible, then I would argue it's the wrong car! :D

M-sport all came with leather, and that is what the OP requested. :)

Sorry my mistake forgot the OP mentioned M Sport! :)

No 18i were AY….as they were LCI

If OP prefers a ‘colour’ he’s likely needing to look at wider options..

If you are wanting an AY 20i or 28i you’ll have to patient….it was used for 30 months but about 2/3 of that was the 23i/30i time..

Only 1,294 AY made of all versions..world wide..

At this rate maybe my best chance is to persuade B21 to sell his Sdrive20i ;)

Sadly for both of us it’s been sold a while..SWMBO couldn’t cope with 3 bright yellow toys…

Your budget is pretty healthy, should get a good spec'd one

Mine was £15.5K 4.5 years ago at 36,000 miles. (Now 55.5k)
Msport, heated seats, heated s/wheel, front and rear Parking sensors, comfort pack, extended lighting etc.

No you can't have it :P

Good luck with search.

Oh Yeah. Valencia Orange "is the way" :D

Just wondering why you have discounted the 23i?

I have an 11 plate 23i in Deep Sea Blue, 43k miles, heated cream seats, sat nav/idrive, PDC front & rear

They are out there but guessing the 23i is not an option for you

Few Reasons:

1) Lower Road tax
2) Higher MPG
3) Slightly newer car

I guess the only way in which I would consider a sdrive23i, is if I could get one in Atacama Yellow!
