Simple answer is yes. You can do it. However, sticking to original spec width is probably best. Wider tyres, even on the same profile, can impact your speedo reading along with several other tracking related issues which would take too long to explain.
Rubber wise - you'll want either all runflat tyres. Or non runflat. There are LOADS of good tyres out there. And, unless you're driving on the limit all the time, you'd be hard pushed to notice any real difference in normal driving conditions.
For runflats - try Michelin Pilot Sport 2s, but we ready to empty your wallet. It'll hurt.
For non runflats - try any of:
