Z4 E85 Soft top/Heated rear window switches

Hi can anyone advise me?
When a BMW hard top is fitted to a Z4 E85, are the control switches on the console automatically immobilised to prevent the soft top motor being activated?
Likewise is the heated rear window in the soft top automatically isolated?
Does the heated rear window in the hard top work automatically from the switch on the console?
Hope that's clear enough.
Thanks
Mike

Mike,

The soft top control are isolated so you can't attempt to raise and lover the soft top with the hard top fitted. The rear screen heater for the hard top needs connecting via a black wire one other side to a spade connector on the hard top fitting - this allows for operation of the heated rear window in the hard top from the control unit.

I thought that it was just plug and play with the roof - the mounting points don't do the screen?
IIRC the mounting points will do the connection. The above mentioned wire and plug need to be disconnected only to make room when adjusting the roof.

Correct.

Thanks for that. I pick up my hardtop this weekend so have nothing to actually inspect at present. Looking at the fitting instructions I got from a fellow forum member, I can see what looks like a wire which appears to attach somewhere near the adjusting mechanism on the hard top. Is this the wire you refer to? If this is the case am I correct in assuming the wires fitted to both sides of the soft top window are not removed?
Any good advice when it comes to adjusting the hardtop?
