4 headlight fills with water, apart from an expensive new one , does anybody have any suggestions ? They are also not very bright

The unit should just need drying out with a hair dryer and the seal reinstalling properly.

Cleaning up the seal and flipping it over in its recess before applying a light coat of silicon grease should get it sealed nicely.
This is all done through the access panel in the wheel arch. Much easier with the wheel removed, although possible without.

As far as brightness, that is a common complaint. I assume you have the bog standard halogens like mine did.
Best bet is to install some decent HIDs or some good quality LED units. Both will require a retainer to make them fit in the standard headlight unit and if you go down the HID route the installation is a little more involved.

EDIT:
I must add that neither the LEDs or HIDs are technically road legal but being a projector units you won't throw nasty glare at oncoming drivers and should still pass at MOT time.
