Hi all,

I’m looking to join the Z4 community.
Looking for a 3.0si LCI model up to £5.5k

Happy to wait for the right car. Not too fussed on colour (please no white).

I’m based around South Yorkshire.

Thanks

Edit 17/09/24 increased budget

Edit 11/1024 car purchased last weekend! Thanks to all that reached out.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search.

Seeing as the UK got less than 1,000 3.0Si E85s you might need to wait and/or travel, but should be able to avoid white as we only got 2 of them!

Thanks!

:o I might have to settle for a 2.5si in the end. But I’d love a 3.0si that was owned by an enthusiast which I could help maintain.

Happy to travel a reasonable distance!

2.5 is substantially cheaper as well so easier to get in your budget.

However the driving experience is obviously not as nice either.

Good luck with the search through

I've only had 3.0Si Z4s, but did have the same engine as the 2.5Si in a 325i. It only lasted a year before I replaced it with a 330i!

It needed revving to get the best out of it which didn't really suit a 3 Series, but may not be such a problem in a lighter Z4. Just avoid the facelift 2.5i as it's well down on power.

And you might want to restrict your search to Sport models as they all had the M-Sport seats as standard, although some SEs had them as an option. But they are very sought after so used M-Sport seats tend to sell for £600/700 which makes them an expensive retro-fit!

I’m concerned the 2.5Si wouldn’t have the power I was after, I used to own a 987 Cayman a few years ago so the 3.0Si is a bit more of a match for power.

Sport for sure!

Prices are a bit all over the shop, I am probably going to sell mine shortly, its in great condition but people freak out at anything over 100k miles (as of course they all have bombs built in that explode once the counter goes over that lol)

I am not over 100k yet (93) and paid 6 for mine, but have spent 5 already on getting all the items addressed that needed addressing. So I guess the higher the miles, the more you have to spend on it (unless already done of course)

I think any car in my price range would be near or over 100k so let me know when you think about selling.

I think at this age they will all need some stuff but yes my logic being that hoping buying one from someone on this forum much of the preventative work has been done.

Well I have written the ad so its going up very soon!
Its got an MOT coming due in October so I will probably book that in and get it done first for the next owner. Also the horn has stopped working, I checked the fuses and they look ok so I am going to need to track down what happened there.

Horn will just be a replacement. Easy to do, and I think enuff_zed has a set

Bump!
I might be waiting a while for the right car (and right price).

Good opportunity to gather ideas and take inspiration from what others have done by scouring the forum :P

Increased budget slightly.

Happy to be contacted if anyone is thinking of selling in the next few months even.

I have a black E85 sport 3.0Si manual that I am potentially going to be selling, recently ticked over 90k miles with ok history. First post so can't PM yet.

Problem is I am all the way down on the south coast. How much of a problem is that?

Where abouts on the south coast? There are members all over the place (including me) who would be happy to check a car out.

I'm in West Sussex, meant to get this sorted earlier in the year but had quite a bit going on. No decent pictures at the moment, set up the account today to force myself one step closer to creating my own post with all the info so feel free to shout at me for posting here. 8)

Few bits as a tease:
Ferric grey MV3 wheels no scratches (I do have original 108s that I'm happy to see go with the car, not in good condition though)
Roof motor relocated
Bushings and other parts replaced 2 years ago (Poly ARB & RTABs, new front control arms, rods etc.)
2 services and clean MOTs under my ownership (purchased summer 2022, MOT history is almost immaculate OE06ETO)
De badged

Couple of not great bits for honesty:
Rear view mirror has a "leak" so may need replacing (not leaking but a bit harder to see, I purchased the car like it and it hasn't got worse, I tend to use wing mirrors as the car rear end is so short)
Steering could do with looking in to, has good and bad days. Car is still very good to drive though
