BMW E85 Z4 3.0i
2003 (03)
109k miles (and a bit - still in use here and there)
£4400, offers considered.
Location: Gloucester
Headlines:
- Mechanically sound example with LOADS of recent work. NEW CLUTCH AND DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL.
- Cosmetically good condition (very good for age), could be excellent with some TLC.
- Part service history (water damaged logbook), but very good recent history and loads of receipts.
- MOT to Jan 2021
- Reason for sale: Saving up to move house, it’s a great car but I must be ruthless in saving money! I’ve done all the below work on the car because it’s a hobby as much as a great car to drive.
All typical mechanical issues resolved, including: (all of this done in last 2 years, and I bought this at 92k miles)
- Expansion tank replaced
- VANOS seals replaced with long life seals (from X8R). Valve cover gasket changed at same time.
- DISA (Intake valve) replaced with permanent fix (from X8R).
- Recent replacement of control arms & bushes, tie/track rods and drop links - replaced with long life versions (Powerflex and Meyle HD).
- Oil filter housing gasket replaced
- Intake boot elbow replaced
- Drains around roof motor cleared. Roof motor fully functional, no evidence of issues with this car.
Further recent work:
- Replacement of front anti roll bar bushes (long life Powerflex)
- Aftermarket stereo with DAB and Bluetooth fitted. I actually installed a proper DAB aerial in place of the original, so it works very well. [I can provide the original stereo, if you want to convert it back to stock, it looks good]
- New tyres fitted (all four, Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric) January 2020.
- Recent replacement of front brake callipers and hoses. New discs, pads & brake fluid at the same time.
- Spark plugs replaced 10k miles ago.
- Serpentine belts recently replaced
- Replacement of thermostat gasket, lower radiator hose, temperature sensor. Coolant flush (distilled water) & renewed (50% antifreeze per specification)
- Headlight cover (access to change bulbs) recently bought new - no moisture in headlights and will stay that way!
Downsides
- Alloys are in need of a refurb. Nothing outrageous, to be expected for age.
- Leather upholstery is a bit scuffed. Again, in line with expectations for age.
- Part service history due to water damaged logbook, but evidence of regular oil changes and maintenance. Plenty of receipts.
Conveniences
- Auto headlights
- Auto dimming rear view mirror
- Rain sensing wipers
- Cruise control
- Power folding mirrors
- Power folding roof, pretty quick too.
Styling
- Clear third brake light
- ZHP gear knob
- Facelift front bumper (After a scrape in an underground car park, facelift bumper was easier to get hold of and I liked it more).
