Z4 E85 2.0 Piston Rings Gone... What now?

Well... I've not had the motor long at all. I bought the car off a friend in April, it had a full service history and seemed to be running perfectly fine before it went into the garage.

It went into the garage for a service and MOT, came back needing new brake lines apparently so they've been replaced, I received the car back brake lines weren't installed particularly neatly, and it turns out the wheels were installed incorrectly causing a rubbing on the front I took it back in and it turns out a rear tyre was installed on the front. I'm then told the suspension seems shot... I put that on hold while I figured out what I wanted to do, then all of a sudden the oil level is low. It goes back in and I'm told the rocker cover is warped and despite it having a new gasket it seems to not be sealing, along with this the piston rings are shot.

Now I fully understand a car that's just clocked 100k miles is going to have some issues, but this thing has been getting dragged out for months by the garage. Its spent almost 3 months in the garage due to the garage constantly having issues with things and for some reason my car goes on the back burner. I'm just not 100% convinced piston rings are the issue and I am going to get a second opinion from another garage, recommended by a friend.

But lets say the piston rings are an issue... realistically what are my options?

Honestly (and you’ll not like it) if it were my car I’d break it to recoup my money

I'd find a better garage; they sound a shower.

If the rings are toast (which is almost unheard of these days) then it'll be puffing blue smoke and will fail an emissions test. If it's just consuming oil, that's quite normal. With an alusil engine anything up to 1 litre per 1000 miles is allowable.

This sounds like a Halfords I took my van to a few years ago. Find somewhere else for gods sake.
