no rush buddy, Im seriously busy with university at the moment...9am-6pm everyday revising and learning then an hours rest for food and stuff THEN 2 hours gym then more food then bed. :headbang:

thanks

It will all be worth it. I am thinking about doing an open university course. Once the car is how i want it. And the renovating of my house is done. So probably when i am 40!!

This would look cool!

I'd love one if I didn't have the Carver setup..... Cant really be ar$ed changing amps and speakers etc.... shame though, as I'd love a Double Din jobbie!

Look forward to seeing how this turns out!

I am sure but it's a complicated shape. I would have to machine it out of a solid lump of something. Lets say aluminium the material alone would be £50 then lots of machining time. I would have to charge £200 £300 to cover costs. Let me have a think. I need to take my radio out to plug the arial lead back in. I might be able to come up with something???

Make us one and then we can use it to make a silicon mold and then cast more out of plastic or even metal. That's how we get the price down.

Sounds like that could be a winning idea. I have the sat nav so not really interested. But I would like a better quality screen can I do that??

ivw always wondered if there was a way to connect up a better satnav radio etc to that screen and use the existing controls? the screen seems ok as is the radio tbh but the sat nag is a bit s**t. my car also has the bluetooth for the phone as well but its not so great a better UI for that would be good. it has to be possible im sure.

its never too late to start learning and the joy of the OU is its so flexible you can take your time. Infact alot of other universities are doing distance learning now.

Your so right Dom Just don't know how i would find the time at the moment. What with My job and making all these bits. Witch i need to do to keep the zed on the road and the zed bills paid. Probably doing 60-70 hours a week with traveling. Then trying to renovate the house. And i mean rebuild. Had to put a new roof on plumbing electric plastering knocking walls down putting in RSJs the lot. It is was loads of fun :D Just got the little barn/double garage/ workshop to do now. Maybe after that

I am busy this week next might be quite?!? You will have to keep reminding me! I still haven't sorted my radio I am hopping to do it over the bank holiday. So I will take some measurements.

Im busy until beginning of next month anyway, so lets try figure something out end of this month for prep to fit beginning next month...

I'm unsure if to try make a surround out of perspex as I got to route venting and cut space out of the existing ventilation system at the back to slot the stereo all the way in, unless there is a slim line double din unit which isn't very deep (but if its the same depth as a standard unit though, no chance without cutting some of the ventilation behind then making a vent system to fit around it...shouldn't be too difficult

Would perspex withstand the heat from the blowers??? :?

Was hopping to get my vents + radio out to fix it and measure up or this. But had serious brake issues missed the un at Goodwood and had o o family stuff. Plus lowering the car had problems so isn't get chance. But maybe next weekend!!

I dont suppose there are any new options on the block for this?

FWIW - I went down a slightly different route to get a decent screen size with an OE look. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55888

I do have a spare set of centre vents of anyone wants them for experimenting with this project? I broke one of the louvres when I removed them, so bought replacements.
