Z4 dim headlights...?!

Hi there!

I am new to the Z4 forum and have recently purchased a Z4 2.0L SE which I love to bits! I have noticed that the headlights are really quite dim and I have difficulty seeing confidently in the dark! I have been informed that this is a problem with Z4 lights but not sure if this is accurate? I am aware that you can buy "upgrade kits" from BMW but that these are pretty expensive!!! Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I simply buy some xenon bulbs and swap them over?!

Any info would be very much appreciated!

Oh and I also have a vindicator kit car for sale if anyone is interested! Please see http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/524810.htm

:driving:

Regards,

Amy

Your headlights may simply be aimed too low (new cars sometimes come that way to be well within local headlight-blinding guidelines). Although the car itself is low, if properly aligned, the headlights do the trick.
Have a search on here to find out how to re-aim them, or simply go to a dealer.

No take it from me the standard lights are crap. The delaer checked mine, one was just below legal limit, the other on bottom limit, they set mid limit but they are still crap.

I am going to try the 50% bright bulbs when it starts getting dark.

Failing any improvement I will look at after market Xenon kits.

Go out and buy the Xenon kit now best money you will spend.

forget the xenon option unless you have deep pockets, fit philips extreme >>

Makes a huge difference, bit fiddly to get at the lights (you have to do it through the wheel arches), but the difference :D and are a straight replacement fit

I find this issue with alot of BMWs. The 3 I had as a loaner car while awaiting delivery on my new Z4, coupled with a Z4 that was driving behind me on a dark road one night prompted me to get the Xenon headlight option, which on a lease, made little difference in cost. I have no regrets at all, definitely would have had issues had I not gotten this option with night visibility.
