I've had to replace these damn cupholders 3 times and even though I am very careful with them, they are BOTH broken AGAIN :headbang:

Does anyone know where I can buy these outside of the dealer? I'm thinking I should just go buy several pairs and learn how to install them myself...geez

Thanks in advance for any info (and sympathy but something tells me many of you can relate)

You get the parts I will put them in for you sweetie. I work cheep or is it I do cheep work.

Had to replace mine just once, :o and at the cost of about $42.00, uninstalled. So to avoid any future problems, I later decided on another alternative. If you don't mind its appearance, you might want to try this OEM Z4 accessory...

For the price @ $78, it may be worth the purchase. It is certainly one of the alternatives to not constantly replacing the stock cupholder that are prone to failure ... I got one, it has been great.....BTW, the circular portion can be simply removed & stored away....

gannet, drive to Leeds I'll do them both for say £100

Why do the stealers lie so much :guns:

it may have been £120 fitted - after saying £150 was too much - my memory ain't as good as it once was...

Still expensive, I forgot all about the idea once I'd read how fragile they can be!

Don't know why they lie :(

they really arnt fragile IMHO- and are honnestly a 2 minute job- two screws in each and they are done!

You really are the dearest man :D I've decided to try out the Ultimate Cupholders and see how they work out. If I don't like them, I may be knockin' at your door my friend.

The latter... (oh, before I get in trouble again for running my mouth: :poke: )

PS: if you decide to replace it with OEM, I can pick it up for you and give you my 10% discount over MSRP: it would be about $41...

The DIY threads on the various forums are excellent ...
Which forum, I've been looking for one for someone else and couldn't find anything, ended up doing a very short one here?

Retrofit Cupholders

Wondermike, yours and this one: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=737451 were two that I had come across.

And SoCalSizzle, should you pick up another front lip while you're there?

I am wondering if yours can't be torn apart and fixed. I know I have fixed mine before. Actually, my passenger one needs a bit of TLC right now. Some day soon... 8)
Maybe we need a fix-it day at Bob's place :poke:

PROBLEM SOLVED...I got my Ultimate Cupholders today. They installed in seconds. I hardly notice they are there and they hold drinks perfectly down next to the console without getting in the way of my leg. Another bene of these, no more fussing with the vents :D

Thanks for the suggestion Incompatible !!
