Z4 Coupe

I doubt a car is going to suffer at all if the oil service is 3-6 months late due to the owner not racking up the mileage. Many modern cars go 20,000 miles between services so the oil can't be degrading to any significant extent.

I've actaully just phoned one of my local dealers to ask about the servicing intervals and they say its mileage based ONLY not required every 2 years.
The brake fluid/coolant change is required every 2 years though as is only time based.

Phoned some more dealers, Derek Woodmans Blackpool say every 2 years max or mileage as indicated as do Halliwell Jones at Southport....brake/coolant is every 2 years time based, could be sooner if it says so apparently if you do mega miles.

Seems it is every 2 years at least, there seems to be quite a few cars out there not seemingly following this!

Trust me on this one Duckson, it is a MAXIMUM of 2 years between services, or if you are told to earlier by the indicator. The indicator counts down something like 500 gallons, so dependant on driving conditions (which directly relates to the MPG), it'll go down faster/slower accordingly.

The brake fluid also MUST be changed a MAXIMUM of every 2 years.

Either of these haven't been done, the car has not been serviced accordingly. Honestly, it's as simple as that. 'srhutch' is completely correct.

Anything else you need to know, please ask.

I think people including the person at one of the dealers i phoned maybe getting confused with the CBS system on the latest cars, above it states that the Z4 is not subject to the CBS (E85 Z4 or the latest one or both i don know!). The CBS system appears to purely tell you when its due by mileage or a certain date which is not nesserialy 2 years...could be anytime depending on wear and tear and what the sensors report.
As the Z4 doesnt have CBS we have to go off mileage indicated left or 2yrs whicheverf is sooner, i'm starting to get this straighter in my own mind now!

Doesnt take away the fact i've seen about 4-5 cars i like and they all appear to have had their first service months and months over the 2yr time limit....the comment comes back saying the "car tells you when it needs doing". Erm no thats wrong it seems!

Another one, brake fluid (on the M at least but might all be the same?) is every 2 years?
So an 07 plate should have had one in 09 sometime....do BMW when selling auc cars ever do a brake fluid change early or is there an additional one required for an inspection 1 or 2 for example?

brake fluid is every two years. When I picked up my AUC, they told me it will need a brake fluid change in October. so they don't do it that early. If its due in 2-3 months I'd definitely push for them to do it as part of the AUC preparations

Reason i asked was a private car i was looking at had just had its brake fluid changed but it was 3yrs old....not sure if it had a brake fluid change before then, if it had for some reason then it would probably be ok if not then its a year out of the service schedule!
