Z4 Coupe vs R8

Non of that racing malarky, just more of an observation.

Whilst walking through on my lunch break yesterday a black r8 drove past me, I took a sneaky peek but harldy anybody else on the street noticed it. However...when a white Z4 coupe followed a couple of minutes it drew looks off no end of people.

This leads me to the conclusion that the coupe has the right amount of style, not too showy, just spot on...

Just after I bought my AW Z4C this summer, I took the wife out to dinner in popular outdoor strip with a main drag that constantly has bikes and cars driving up and down looking for attention. We cruised down looking for a parking spot and the wife said tons of people were turning and watching as we passed. I ofcourse was too cool to notice the attention. 8) After finding a parking spot a few kids on bicycles stopped as we were getting out and raved about the car. I was honestly blown away by the attention the car getting....and loved every minute of it. A few weeks later we went out and some guy stopped us in a parking lot to ask about it. At this point the wife was like "WTF? Does this happen all the time?" All I could say was yes.

Not only does the Coupe just look perfect. It's sporty, yet tasteful and classic looking. But it's also rare. That's why I think they get so much attention. One guy actually stopped me and said "They make that in a coupe???"

The fact it was white probably made a big difference :)

I think white cars were not popular until recently and they do stand out. I do think the Z is a real head turner 8)

I have said it before and I will say it again. The R8 just looks like any other run of the mill Japanese car. Unless you are really into cars, the normal public will pay little attention. In my opinion they are ugly, an opinion the gang on Top Gear concluded as well. The Zed on the other hand looks great. I can be parked in it and many times people have walked by and commented cool car and such. :)

I live in Central London and its not the car for keeping a low profile...as said above passengers notice it straight away, it's as if you are driving something much more exotic and quite surprising.

I had some tourists taking photos of it the other day while it was parked; it was weird because I was sitting in it on the phone at the time. Driving with the window down always gets people asking you about it when stopped, and I have often come back to it when parked to find people discussing it... It definitely gets more attention than any other car you can buy for the same money IMO, mainly I think due to its the rarity factor; 911s get ignored because you see 10 a day, the Z4 Coupe is an unusual looking thing...

I'm with this, i think if the R8 was white and the z4 black you would have seen the reverse

I'd personally have an R8 anytime, as said 'white' the new black, is a headturner on it's own.Still love the coupe though, i'm not dissing it.

Not the coupe but my roadster has had some nice comments while at Le-Mans last year both from A.C.Cobra owners and while parked in a small town on the way down a group of young lads took pictures with mobile phones and then the chef came out and asked about the car saying what a beautiful car it was :D was very proud and she gets plenty of looks when driving around over here i think the fact i keep the car very clean most of the time helps.

Re the R8 i saw one turning from Oxford St into Park Lane in bright red when i went to view my Z4 and it looked stunning everyone was reaching for the mobile to get a pick

There are quite a lot of R8's round the manchester area, and i have to say they are worth the asking price for the exhaust note alone ! :P

Your not in Wilmslow are you? Aston Martins, R8, Lambo's, Ferrair's and big Range Rovers are as common as Ford Focus.

I love some of the attention the Coupe gets, especially as its in (not very) Mellow Yellow! You can hear people mention Z4, but then they question it because of the roof. Very funny.

your not wrong, i took the other half for a few drinks in alderley edge last night and there was a Maybach, R8 and about 6 RangeRover sports. I dont live there unfortunately, but would be more than happy to sit in one of the bars and watch the parade of nice cars pass!

While taking ZetaTre's other half around red rock canyon's scenic route we had pulled over to enjoy one of the views. Some Japanese tourists asked to pose and take pictures with my Z. One guy said it was his dream car.
