Hi All

Is this normal for a Z4C (screen capture not vid)? Photos are of the front panel where the bonnet catch is. Last pic is of the strut braces corroding on the leading edge.

Thanks
Well its made of steel and steel rusts so yes its normal I guess. Everything you have highlighted seems easily replaceable and not actual body panels.
You will probably get what you need for peaniutsd from a breaker...

Thanks. Its just that many in the classifieds do not exhibit this - or some do not showw under bonnet shots because of this?

10 years ago i looked around at Z3, quite few rust buckets for silly money back then. Think one had been in local canal.
Only part on Z4 E89 that go rusty are the rear trailing arms, hub mounts and diff. mount.
Shame they don't rust proof them.

Yes they all corrode there, it's only light surface rust. No need to replace at all, just rub it down, treat with rust cure, primer and then paint, dead easy.
Few pics for inspiration!DSC_3933.JPGDSC_3942.JPGDSC_3954.JPGDSC_3955.JPG

Went to see this car for sale before I bought mine and it had corrosion there...

Very common corrosion points but not generally considered to be a problem. The braces are prone to flaking paint, but can easily be removed and repainted. The slam brace in front of the radiator is even flakier and can be difficult to remove but possible to paint in situ.
