Z4 Coupe Recommended Engine Oil

Hi,

I'm looking to the change the engine oil on my 07 Coupe, she's got 85k on the clock and is only used for some spirited road driving. What weight and brand oil would you guys recommend ?

5W30 fully synthetic is the usual oil however high mileage cars can use 5W40 from what I have seen on forums. I use 5W30 on my low milage Z3 and 5W40 in my 95k miles Z4. As to Brands it all depends on price at the end of the day, Opie Oils online are worth a look they have a wide selection of Brands and their website will show what is reccomended if you enter your car details.

Obviously, being a coupe, it needs thicker oil than the roadster, even with the same engine, but ask 5 people on here and you'll get 6 different answers.
 
I'm watching with interest, I almost pulled the trigger on castrol edge 5w-30 earlier, so it will be interesting to see what people recommend.
 
BMW used to use Castrol Edge but now use Shell Helix Ultra, but any brand that meets the BMW LL04 specification should be fine - if it does it should say so on the container.

My 330i with the same N52 engine has done 120k so I use Shell 5W/40 for top ups as my Indy puts Shell in at oil changes.
 
I opted for Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 after scouring several different forums and groups, but everyone seems to have their own preference.

Opie Oils website usually has some pretty good deals and discount codes…
