Z4 COUPE PURCHASE QUESTIONS?

Hi,
I have always loved the look of the Z4 coupe and thought I need to scratch this itch I have for the car. I currently drive a R53 JCW mini which is fantastic to drive better than most things I ve driven but I am getting a bit tired of the rawness of the car and want a bit of comfty with sporty looks....
I have read the buyers guide which is useful, but I would like to know what are they like to own in the fact of every day driving ??
Cheers

My ///M Coupe is fun, fun, fun. The only drawback is the ride height for ramps and 'sleeping policemen', other than that it's a pleasure to own & drive. :D

Excellent for every day driving.

I ran a 3.0Si for 2 years /20k miles and it was superb.

Not many issues to be honest.

If 3.0Si then listen out for a tapping/ticking noise when the engine is cold. Could be the HVA's.

Also look for rust on the hatch. Only other thing is coil springs but they break on all models.

The most obvious things with the coupes is that they are missing 2 buttons - the ones to open and close the roof! :P

I wasn't going to post on this thread as I may be accused of bias given that I'm probably putting my car up for sale very soon, but after nearly 5 years of ownership I would point out the following.

The steering is light enough to make a nice commuter. Hubby has a Cayman and we both find that hard work around town.
The boot is surprisingly big
The sports seats are really comfortable, I've driven mine to Europe a few times and done a long drive back from France with little ill effect.
The turning circle makes it easy to park
If you are driving it in winter I would recommend winter tyres
Fuel consumption isn't too scary
It looks great every time you walk back to it

Stopping at this point before I talk myself out of selling mine :(

Thanks for the reply, everything you said is the opposite of my JCW !!! :driving:

To answer your spec question you can get 3.0 SI SE, 3.0 SI Sport, and M

The SE is the more basic, doesn't usually have sports seats, basic steering wheel, 17" wheels, and higher suspension ( light coloured interior headlining)

Sport, sports seats and suspension, often have heated seats, PDC. Etc

Most sport owners will tell you that you must buy a Sport. We used to own one of each and sold the sport as the SE is a more comfortable daily but still great out on hoons

All M owners will tell you that you need to buy an M :poke:

Best advice anyone can give you is to drive a couple of cars, then you'll know when you find a good one. When I bought mine we tried quite a few cars - including An M and a few roadsters before I found one that felt right. I've been rewarded with a very reliable car

I've had mine for 18 months / 10k miles, use it daily except in winter and love it!

Looks fantastic, sounds awesome, comfortable seats etc. It would be perfect except for one thing - the awful ride. Fortunately I spend most of my time on the motorway so it's not too noticeable.

Mechanically it's been sound and has only cost me an oil service.

It's hard not to fall in love with them
