Looked lovely except for the front which appeared to have had a bump. The plastic front wasnt fitting correctly and wasn't quite the right colour either.

It's in Saturday's auction starting at 10am.

Details online and attached.

Must be very rare! Did it belong to anyone on here?

Also parked next to it was a Z4M roadster, very nice!

It looks like only 8 Phoenix Yellow Coupes with the Bi-Colour interior were sold in the UK, so it's certainly rare!

And one of them belongs to a forum member who managed to track his one down and reacquire it recently.

Also spotted in Harry Metcalfe's preview video at around 25mins.

Plus auction fees I guess. And I think it needs the front nose cone redone based on my inspection.
A bargain, but it's definitely an acquired taste that colour! Looked amazing under the floodlights.

Was that the hammer price, or the total with the 15% buyer's fee?

Hammer price.

The auction was quick at selling cars earlier. Nothing is making the lowest guide price and some massively below. The auctions are taking too long now as they try and push for bidders.

So after fees that's an £8k Pheonix manual Coupe with 95k miles.
What do we think it would have fetched in a private sale? £10k maybe?

Been watching the auction for an hour or so now.........who said there is a 'cost of living crisis'? Doesn't seem to be affecting the cars on there. SO expensive, most of them.

Prices at collector's auctions aren't the same normal car auctions where dealers are buying stock. Cars at these auctions normally go for premium prices.

If they could be get £10k for it privately the owner would have sold it privately. They've only got £7200.

Less seller's fees. The only people who make a killing at these type of auctions are the auctioneers. They make a fortune. :o

It was £8100 with the fees. £7200 for the seller.

The fees are really high for selling a car. People are willing to pay it as they think the auction will attract collectors who will pay a premium price.

I think the seller would have expected more than £7200. They would have easily got that selling it on any website without going through the hassle of auctioning it.

I watched a bit of the auction today. Early in the day the auctions were very quick. There was a few times they actually ended the auction just as a higher bid was made. Cheaper cars had too big an increment to the next bid.

Then later on they were dragging out auctions and restoring to small incremental bids on more expensive cars. Cars were not achieving their lowest guide price.

Went for what it’s worth in this climate.

It’s not an M ye it’s a rare colour but very marmite and it’s not exactly a low miler collector.

TBH I thought it looked out of place in that auction. 99% of the cars were pretty special, for one reason or another. The only thing that stood out on that E86 was the colour. Maybe the seller had other entries?

There was a 2017 Mini JCW with no miles on it. It went for a lot more than they cost new, and even more than a new version would cost. Same with a 2018 Alpine A110 with 900 miles on. I don't get that. Neither are rare, or classics, as they are current vehicles. Only the lak of mileage made them different.

A manual 2011 Ferrari California hit over £200k (with fees), and it needed work to get it running properly. :?
The modern California is the cheapest Ferrari you can buy.

Some people just have too much money IMO.

There was a lot of poor replicas and ordinary cars. The Honda Civic and Renault Clio were odd. Basic standard cars with delivery mileage. They aren't interesting.

Neither the Alpine of Ferrari California have sold.

The Ferrari California was auctioned on the basis that the running issues would be solved before the sale. It's back up for buy it now and they want £276,000

Maybe it's just prices getting back to pre-Covid reality?

I got less than £7K for my 91K mile Coupe in February 2020. :(

OK it was Montego Blue so not a rare colour, but probably more acceptable to more buyers.

If I had over a quarter of a million to spend on one car, it wouldn't be non-running 2011 California. Being manual makes it rare...because no-one wanted a manual one when ordering new. Same with the 'puke' yellow E86. Don't see how an undesirable car when new is suddenly worth a fortune.

I agree.

Yet years later people are obsessed with tiny details that makes their car a little different.

We are well past that point.

Niche car niche colour not high miles for the age but to a lot it will be.
