Z4 Coupe Overheating - Fan not spinning need some HELP!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I phoned the dealer this morning and explained, the sales rep said that it was fine to take it in and call them once they'd diagnosed the fault.

I should have explained that this letter is if they decide to get arsey with me about things. Hopefully it wont come to it and maybe its a bit late to claim back money for the window but this maybe quite expensive! :s

I have just read this and I guess by now it will be fixed.

Something I found out recently with a dodgy thermostat is that the temperature sender for the guage in the dash is not the same thing that triggers the fan.

I had a NEW thermostat that was stuck shut so the cylinder head and the dash guage were seeing a real overheat whilst the sender for the fan was seeing water that didn't need cooling, so dash temp hitting red and no fan on. The fan itself was fine.

Had the same issue occur with my E86 today.

Stuck in traffic and the temp gauge suddenly rose to max.

Stopped, switched it off and checked to find the fans weren't running.

My destination was close to Cooper Cobham BMW dealer so popped in there and they had a look at it. Turns out there was power going to the fans and the earth was okay, however, the trigger cable wasn't working, technician believed there was a breakage in the wire but as there wasn't much time he rigged up a wire bypassing the original wire and it worked perfectly all the way home, in very heavy traffic on the M25 tonight.

need to take it to my local dealer tomorrow to get it looked at properly and I assume get a replacement loom or get the wire replaced properly.

But great customer service by the guys at Cooper Cobham BMW.
