Z4 Coupe on its way soon

Hi All,

I'm currently the owner of a Renaultsport Clio 197 (nice car to be fair), but it really is time for me to trade up to something better, more luxury and more grown up just in time for my 30th birthday in May!

I have seen one I like, i will be sticking down a deposit in a couple of weeks as i won't be able to pay in full until the end of April so the wait is killing me!

The one i have spotted is a 57 plate (2008) 3.0si sport coupe auto with lots of nice options (xenons, comfort pack, ruby black paint, 5 star split rim alloys, dimming mirrors plus a couple of others i cant remember), and 1 awful one which is wood dash trim that I just can't appreciate - so i'll be looking to swap it to standard brush aluminium.

Fingers crossed i'll be joining the coupe club in the next few weeks. I cant wait!

If it's in Ruby Black with wood interior, then it's a special order from BMW Individual.

Don't know how long you're thinking of keeping it, but removing Individual specification items may not help to sell it as some buyers want an 'original spec' car - even if the Individual bit is horrible ;)

ahh i see thats an interesting point. Does that mean the ruby black only came with the wood trim? I know from the dealer sales person i chatted to today that the wood trim was a £300-odd option, and i'm waiting to hear back how much the standard trim will cost to fix.

Its a shame as the rest of the car is absolutely perfect, it has all the spec i am after and the colour, plus it is well priced (IMO) at £23,000 asking price for a 57 plate with just 475 miles on the clock! (i'll be looking to get it for 22k with trim swapped).

I plan to keep it for about 2-3 years, the same as most of my other cars unless i get tempted with the new Z4 when second hand ones become more affordable for me in 18 months or so.

No, mine is Ruby Black with steel interior trim

The Ruby Black paint is an optional extra from BMW's Individual scheme, as is the wood trim.

They can be spec'd separately, so the original owner obviously liked his wood, although didn't get on with it if they chopped it in after 475 miles - which makes it sound more like a demonstrator to me (but it probably isn't). The last cars off the production line were made in June 2007, so even if the car was registered in 2008, it's still using the same parts as a 2007 car - in case you're lookin for parts.

If the brushed aluminium trim is anything like the price of the other trims, then you're looking at about £600 for all the pieces. (£200 for the transmission tunnel cover, £300 for the large dash cover, and £100 for the bit that covers the cupholder area). Although think yourself lucky that you don't want to swap to carbon-leather as that's about £900.

We really need pictures to see how bad it is though :P

The interior trim does come up on ebay once in a while so if you can live with it gor for it. I paid £180 for all three pieces in Carbon Leather of ebay which was a real bargin as it's £1,000 from dealer.

Have you seen this yet?
